My new project, the Sand Man

okay heres the skinny, i spent about 5 hours on graphing paper working out designs. then i went on paint for about 5 mins to make a rough sketch. My plan is to take a Stampede VXL transmission, a brushless engine, tube frame, side panels wrapped in a carbon fiber, sand paddles and the blades up front, some traxxas electronics because of the water proof feature and some other odds and ends, most likely some kind of wing. the site would let me upload my photos so here is the links. this project will take a long time cause i got to get funds which will be a while and convince my dad to help me with the frame and so this thread may go dead for a couple of months. :( sorry, but times are tuff around here the layout just popped up so if anyone wants the plans just take them. :D heres the links. click on full size in corner on first one so you can see it.

heres some updates. im good with paint so it only takes me a sec there. its what i did in typing class when i finished way ahead of the class and we weren't allowed to get on the internet. so heres some more.

looks good, but i think you can simplify the design of the tube frame, and take out some of the braceing, and use just all x braceing on it

well my dads a master welder where he works, blah, blah, and he said it was an easy one for him. and the reason for the complecity is my mom and i are good at math and found out that this design was very sound and sturdy.:D but thanks for the tip becuase i thought the same but my parents said it would be better this way so i trust them. and i already measured it all out.:D

im using a stampede transmission with velineon in it. A water proof box and reciever from traxxas. also a water proof servo. so in a way kinda like yours.

popped in my head a couple of days ago and i flew with it and let my imagination get me. i most likely will completly trash my rustler for parts.:( but it will be so much more fun and cheaper. i already upgraded to steel gears in it so woo hoo!:D i'll i have to do is buy the motor speed control, lipo battery and charger, water proof box and micro receiver, and thats it folks. this was intense i probably spent 10-12 hours on graphing paper, its like a bandit with tube frame, brushless and stamepede and rustler parts.

well im thinking about the the side winder system with 4600 motor, and 3c venom battery with their procharger, and i would have to add alot more stuff but i saw my rustler and thought, sorry old friend but its time for some nip, tuck, and a face lift!:D

Thanks, well for a little bit i'll use my rustler parts and then uprgrade, but i see what your saying. i'll eventually run all black rpm rear a arms like you said but, moneys tight so for a while i'll be stuck with what i have. Well, my dad says that he will look at job at ameren to see if they have any 1/8 or 1/16" steel rods laying around and he said he bring them home so its starting slowly but surely. the steering unknown most likely like the bandit or other 1/10 buggies. heres the tires again don't know how that happended it was there yesterday.

thats what i heard to they say there good for snow, but sand forget it. the firm panther paddles is what i'll get. my dads supposed to look but if theres not at his work my brother in law said he'd hook me up with some and he said that he had a friend that welds aluminum so :D its starting to look good. haven't actually started but my dad aproved of it.:D

yeaap we go basically every 4th of july. its a big ole convoy of big old fords up to michigan lol. my dads friends and and my dads friends always bring their fords. 78-79 fords only lol:D

no its mostly for the beach and when i go camping. and i wanted to do it custom. so its in a way like that lowered middle, little higher front and back and a place for the trasmission. that is cool though.

well i finished the side panels for the side, roof and that skid plate. dad didn't have any steel tubes or aluminum either, either i'll go to a hardware store and get it or my brother in law will hook me up with all the aluminum i need and somebody who can weld aluminum. Hes got sweet hookups:cool:

Wow, all this talk about AP classes, Jr. High, High School. Man, Do I feel Old. I took some advanced courses also, but most of the time thier parents did not like my research. Needless to say, I was not an honor student, I beat them up, and took out thier girlfreinds. Man, the good ol' days.

i think that this project is probably canned we tried with the frame and it just wasn't reliable where the plastic meets the metal so i think i m upgrading to brushless cause im tired of buying stock motors went through three of em already and then stampede tires and in the future sometime i hope to get an extended super flm chassis! but thats the future and things happen fast.:rolleyes:
