hey guys i keep breaking down the stock steering servos on my mlst and i am wondering about options i know that i can use any micro servo but i also want to use the stock servo saver with it too and i know the hitec hs 55 servo will fit in the hole but the spindle will not work with the stock saver so what will?? or am i gonna have to buy a saver to go with the hitec (i already have some on hand)

and if at all possible a metal gear servo would be the best

Spackman I feel your pain. I have owned a Mini LST and a mini LST 2 and between the both of them I have probably replaced the servos on them 4 or 5times. I have tried time and time again to find better servos, but those good ol' designers over at losi made it so that just about every micro servo available doesn't fit in the Mini LST except for their cheap a$$ stock servos. I mean seriously, they even made the servo connectors female instead of the standard male type connectors! It's a solid little truck, but losi knows their servos on the MLST are a problem and boy are they taking advantage of it! With it being $40 to replace a pair of servos I think I can afford to let my MLST sit in the corner and collect dust. I hate to be a downer but i'm pretty sure the only real way to fix the servo problem for good is to buy the $80 upgrade from Exotek and fit a standard 1/10 scale servo in it.

yeah thats wht i was thinking i would have to do but i want to avoid it as much as i can. i have been looking on the exotek website and they say that you must use a servo that has at least 90 oz of torque does any one know why they dont say

They usually break in about 2 to 3 weeks depending on how hard you run it. I only used mine off road once or twice and the servos were toasted shortly after.

i would never run it in the dirt. i only run it on the asphalt and carpet.

In that case your servos may last a little while longer but even on road they probably won't last forever. Mini Lst servos are extremely cheap and the people over at Losi are real losers when it comes to replacing them so try not to break them at all costs.

Well, after a while the servo will start to sound like it's buzzing, then after that, the little plastic gears go to the pits. If you've ever opened up a mini LST's servo the gears are laughably weak and small. In most cases the servo gears look like someone ground up a Saltine craker and put the crumbs back in the servos case. Definately not a good thing.:(

I have to say though, other than the servo issues the Mini LST2 is pretty much bullet proof.

well i'm not exactly known for being nice to my rc vehicles so they dont last very long but i just bought a new radio that comes with a servo that has plenty of torque and even metal gears so i think that my next paycheck will be spent on the exotec and a new charger

ok man so i'm really considering the exotek kit and i have a servo (hitec hs 625 mg) that will work but its kind of heavy and i am wondering how it affect the ballance of the car while jumping and how is the fit and finish of the parts. so in other words is it really worth the $80

Did not notice a difference in the balance. It still flies like a dream. The kit is well built, fits well, and will definitely makes the truck more durable. Is it worth $80.00...? I dont know. If it was only $80.00 it would be worth every penny, but when you have to spend another $50.00 to $80.00 on a good servo and still have to get the servo saver, This kit gets expensive. If you have a servo laying around that you can throw in, it is a great purchase, but if you have to spend over $150.00 to upgrade a truck that costs less than $200.00... Sounds crazy to me, but Most people that are in this hobby are crazy anyway. (I bought one)

I used an old Traxxas servo off of one of my REVOs. It has 80 oz of torque and is as fast as any basher needs.

Do you need a special servo saver?

Do you need a special servo saver?

You need a kimbrough servo saver.

The Kimbrough servo saver only cost about $5.00 or so. I picked mine up at my local hobby shop.

they also say that you can use any servo horn out there you just have to trim it when you install it so it will fit

huh air servos have just as much torque as car servos just they usually dont have metal gears they usually have more torque some have 400+ oz in torque
