South county regional park has had a public rc track for a long time and finally a club has steped foward and taken control, if you live in the area than you were probobly aware of how poor a shape the track was in but now south florida dirt oval club has re-done the track into a dirt oval, this may worry some but its ok, Dan the president of the club has incorparated a fully off-road section into the new track!
the club will have regular races every saturday at 1:30. The fee for non-club members is 12 dollors and 10 for members. You must have a ROAR membership to race.
There are classes for almost everyone, if your rig doesnt fit into a particular class Dan will either fit you in to a class thats similar or he'll make one! (no garentees jk). For right now there are a few classes: 1/8 scale buggy closed wheel late model/open wheel (basic buggy bodys), 1/10 late model, 1/10 open wheel, 1/10 slider (mostly losi), 1/10 electric (bl & brushed) buggy, 1/18 slider, and beginner class (includes all types other than 8th scale buggy) their are 3 races for every cl**** 2 heats and the main.
as far as shops and other necesities are concerned, their are a number of bathroom facilities in the park, a cvs 2 blocks away and 2 hobby shops, both within a 2 min drive in either direction! I would also suggest you bring a colapsable canopy and as muck water as possible, their is no shade in either the pit or on the drivers stand the only other shade is peoples colapsable canopys or your car and as any local racer will tell you, it gets HOT!
heres some pics from the track:
