Hey what do all of you think is a good micro nitro buggy? There was a sportwerck chaos that was pretty beaten up for 75 bucks at the lhs. Is this worth it in your minds? I was gonna buy it and rebuild it during the winter.

You can find a brand new Chaos on eBay for around $75. Don't buy a used one.

Def do not buy a used Chaos for $75. They can be had brand new for around that price on a regular basis. There are a few things you should know about the Chaos before purchasing one also.

1. The diffs are pretty much dry out of the box, and if you want them to last longer than a few runs you will need to disassemble the car and pack them with lube them before you run it.

2. The shocks will only be about half full when new, and the car will be bouncy and unstable. Pull them off and fill them up with 30-35 wt oil before running.

3. The design of the diff outdrives leaves quite a bit to be desired, and the screws will start to loosen after a few runs. If they loosen and you apply power they will break or strip, so while you have the car apart to lube the diffs be sure to loctite the outdrive screws.

4. The stock tires are absolute garbage, and will not last very long at all. They do not have foam inserts in them, and are IMO too small for the vehicle. If you get one do yourself a favor and order some Kyosho Mini Inferno wheels and tires. I prefer the Proline Crime Fighter tires and Velocity wheels. They are slightly taller so they add a little ride height as well as a little top speed, and the rubber is a MUCH better compound that lasts a whole lot longer than the stockers.

Following those 4 steps will help to make the car more reliable, and will save you headaches in the long run. The Chaos is an ok mini nitro considering the price, but is not by any means one of the better ones available. Anything more than stock power will destroy the drivetrain within minutes, but for basic running up and down the street and around the yard they can be quite fun.

Here is a link to a brand new one for only a few dollars more than the used one you were looking at.

I have heard the same thing about the Trinity. The Kyosho 09 is also a very nice mini nitro, and is worth looking into. Both of those will cost you quite a bit more than the Sportwerks, but you get what you pay for.
