Another Newbie to your site here. I'm currently stationed at Camp Ramadi, Iraq. RC Driver has been kind to show their support to us soldiers so the least I could do is order up some RC Driver gear and register here. About myself???
Well, I've been involved with the sport of RC since I was a youngster...think my first RC was a Grasshopper or Hornet...whatever one was the black with yellow. My first RC racing action was with a Blackfoot at then A&S Hobbies in Fulton, Ny. I ran there for a few years moving up to RC10 based EDMS shortly after half a season of trucks. Then I was on and off again racing with my dad. He was the set up man. I just drove the thing and gave him the car's input. (I don't suggest ever doing this with your children, get them involved!) My father and I moved to Branson, Mo where I was forced to convert from dirt oval to carpet. I ran stadium truck carpet oval and 12th scale on road. This was very challenging and enjoyed it. I joined the Navy and while stationed in San Diego, I picked up a Nitro Rustler off a buddy. Now I'm in the Army, stationed in Iraq. I've been introducing the sport to many new people and have been working on a track in my spare time. Since breaking ground, there are now a total of four tracks on this base. There are more and more people ordering cars and trucks on a daily. It's taking off! Thanks to RC Driver, I have reference to show these potential newbies the ins and outs of the vehicles. Now if I can only get fuel to power my XXXNT AD's and my Nitro Rustler! I'm ordering a XXXT MF2 and going to enjoy banging fenders with my soldiers! That's about that!

Welcome to the board johnboy72! We've sent a lot of magazines over there, hopefully some made their way to your area.

Ed Bridges our engine expert is working on a fuel formula using stuff that is available to you guys. It won't make as much power as standard off the shelf RC fuels, but at least it will get your rigs rolling.

Greq,
Yes, thanks to Enrich and Bob, I've been receiving magazines. I hand them out to a couple of different units and trust me, they are getting put to use. Bob and I talked about the fuel issue. I've been talking with others throughout Iraq and we've been trying to put our head's together. I think I may have my fuel problem figured out that doesn't require illegally smuggling in Listerine bottles. A rep from KBR, a civilian contractor, says she will get some shipped from Kuwait. She's also said she'll try to stock up on it.
It is amazing to sit back and watch how well it is taking off here. I went over to my track yesterday to watch the guys run. Basically just to watch and listen to the Sgt Major and Battalion Commander battle it out while talking trash the whole way. Just to look at these guys out there, they look like kids again. But I met a couple of contractors that had brought out there gear. Next thing I know I am wrenching on a E-Savage, XXX-T, and have a couple of other things to work on. Sgt Major has told everyone I'm the mechanic. So my pile of parts is quickly diminishing, time to make a stop at Ebay and look for more parts lots. No fuel, turning laps with others trucks, wrenching on other's cars...I'm loving every moment of it!!!

PS-That’s my dog, Primer in this months Off Track. I had the wife pick up a copy and told her to look at the last page. The caption floored her. She’s convinced that he is the dumbest dog ever! I’m convinced he’s too smart for his own good. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I just learned today that he learned a new trick. He goes from bathroom to bathroom flipping the lids on the toilets till he gets one open. She’s about ready to kill him!:D

 Yes, we have the same problem over here on Camp Falcon. A couple of the guys and I bought T-maxx's and Revo's, and are waiting impatiently to get fuel. We have no track, but I know a few oher guys with electric cars, and trucks that would love to race. PLEASE keep us updated if KBR helped any, or if you found any other means to get some go-juice!
