I got my Mamba Micro Pro 8000kv in on Friday, and Why put off 'til tomorrow what you can do while your wife sleeps tonight? I must say that I expected the physical size of the motor to be larger, and was slightly concerned when looking at the can next to the stock motor. The frenzy can is much larger than the Mamba.Install was quick and painless. I got it installed around midnight and couldn't even think about going to bed without at least a test run. After the test run, I couldn't even think about going to bed!
My disappointment didn't last. Performance is GREATLY improved!

I had to work at a local college Saturday morning and I actually brought my truck with me! I knew that there would be large open parking lots that were empty for the Christmas holiday. Campus security came by and they were cool enough to clock it for me. It topped out at 38 MPH with 2s lipo. I really do not see a need for 3s on this setup.

After several trouble free runs this weekend, I am glad that I went with the Mamba, but I think that I should have gone with a lower kv motor. I think that the Mini LST2 is too heavy for that hot of a motor and would benefit from a lower kv and still have the ability to go with 3s for speed runs. I now have the ESC so a simple motor swap does not create a problem.

Here are a few pictures. Let me know what you think.

Get a 2nd mamba 8kv and speedo and slap it in that bad boy.

That would be pretty sick!

I had to call Castle to ask about the ESC. The heatsink came loose so I was going to re-attach it. I was calling to ask what epoxy to use. Castle sent a new ESC out that day. I have to send the 1st one back, but they even sent a postage-paid envolope. I am very pleased with that kind of Customer Service. That is "Traxxas-like" service!!!

I killed a battery this past weekend. The default settings have the lipo cutoff turned off. I picked up the Castle Link. I Have not ran since reprograming the ESC due to a busted diff, but more on that in a minute... Programing looks simple enough, and I have confirmation that my settings are what I want(lipo cutoff). The confirmation alone makes it worth the price in my opinion. I trust it more now. I have been running on the default settings thus far. I cant wait to see the difference.

Back to the busted diff... Well, 8000kv in tall grass + locked slipper clutch = you get the picture... I had already upgraded to the Losi Mini-T ball diff in the center. The original diff stripped with the stock motors. I expected the ball diff to hold up better than it did, but 8000kv will find the weak-link if there is one. I ordered the MIP ball diff today.

I have a 4 day weekend comming up so I will have it back together soon. I am waiting on the new diff now. Hopefully, there will not be to many more weak links.

Very nice rig. What wing mount are you using?

The wing mount is Exotek. I believe that the wing is a 1/12 OFNA.
I even picked up the Exotek Mini-T chassis. Guess I am a loyal Exotek customer.

It hit 38 mph, but it was geared to high. I have gone back to stock gearing, but have not ran since because of a busted center diff. I had already upgraded to the Losi Mini-T ball diff, but it didnt last long after going brushless. I am having a little trouble with the MIP ball diff, but that is for another thread. I am ordering a new pinion and spur soon and I am going with Castle's suggestion... smallest pinion possible and largest spur possible. I have not tried it on 3 cell and do not plan to any time soon. It is faster than what I was looking for already.

Ya know i see a pattern here my mini lst also has center diff issues with the 8000kv mamba you would thing someone would address this issue with hardened steel or somthing they would make a killing!!

I know that I will end up regretting it in the future, but I just ordered a center spool for it. I am fed up with the MIP ball diff. I also picked up another Losi ball diff. I am going back with the ball diff for now, but I have to try the spool.

The spool is a bad idea IMO , when you run the ball diffs you are running them 1/8 turn from fully tight and using blue threadlock on the diff screw ?

If you do not run that center diff tight it will heat up and melt the gear .
