Seems to be something new recently from Robitronic. I kind of like it. Not highly priced, seems to be a good deal for it's money. Is it good, would anyone recommend it? I'm thinking of getting back into truggy, since I use to have a XTM Mammoth ST and that really got on my nerves in the past, since at every run, it either loses something like a screw or break. The Mantis TXS seems to be good for me to get back into the truggy class.

I did a Driven review for the Mantis in the Jan 09 issue.
It's a nice truggy for the money.

Really? Never got that last issue. It looks like a good truggy for bashing and probably modified some of it for hitting it at the track.
Looks like a hellfire. Also looks like it comes with the Axial/hpi .28 h.o. engine
for a little more money, you could get the 8ight-t rtr that comes with a dx2 remote. Plus you won't have a problem getting parts (if it ever brakes......lol)

Plus the quality and parts suport would be much better

Yeah, but that's the price for you guys in the U.S., in Canada, the 8ight-t RTR causes 919.99!!!! I have to pay it more in Canadian then you guys, but if I go for it at the price 499.99 in the U.S., I will end up paying it around 600 probably. All the hobby shops in Canada that I know has the 8ight-t listed at least 919.99 in Canadian money.
I believe the TXS won't cause much in Canada. Probably around 400-500...

just get whatever is cheapest for you. just make sure your lhs stocks parts or can order them. because then if you dont spend all your money on the truck, you can get aftermarket parts and chassis upgrades. get the thunder tiger st-1. its built like a tank. i have had it for 2 years and have been racing it and have never broken one part. and its only 299.99 here in the us from Amain. here is my st-1

I just picked up a used Mantis...no engine no servos for $175 to my door. The screw holes for mounting the cast aluminum hub are striped on the one side. Perhaps the guy I bought it from ate a bowl of stupid for breakfast... or maybe they are a weak point. Overall I was really impressed with the truggie it seems like a well thought design and seems like it will be a great basher. Robitronics already has the CNC hubs on the market for these trucks but I may have to buy from robitronics directly as the LHS don't carry parts. Take into account this is my first truggy so knowledge on these is limited. just my 2 cents I'll let you know what I think after I've made a couple passes with it.

Kinda sounds like the bolts on the hub may have worked loose causing it to destroy the threads.
The Mantis is a nice truggy and is worthy of any upgrades you choose to do.
