well i changed my crawler in to a scale vehicle, i bought one of those jeep JK bodies just before they got hot and everyone wanned one. but long story short here is my scale jeep so far.

x-trail
rooster crawler ESC (thinking about getting a water proof one)
55t motor (want to get a little faster one for more wheel spin)
proline 2.2 flat iron ( want to go 1.9 but don't know what kind of tires yet)
axail trans and axles
have lights on the way just for headlights fog lights and tail lights (have light bar that will have working lights in it)
custom paint job (took about 6-7 hours from start to finish)

well on to the pictures, wont bore you with the x-trail build, if you have seen one then you have seen them all.

well i went out and bought a box from radio shack to try and waterproof my stuff, as you can see, both the esc and recever fit in the box with room to spare. bought some silicone sealant to seal off the holes i made. not going seal everything in yet, going put a sidewindering instead of the MM.
after i ran it out side i looked in side the box and it seem pretty dry for not being sealed all the way up so i am happy with it.

hmm... yup its 2.2 alright...

OldSchoolRC
02-11-2009, 12:02 AM
I've seen them with 1.9's, they don't look too bad once you drop the shocks and tuck the wheels in. Having said that, i agree with the 2.2's...i just think they look better overall. Planning to use them on mine as well.

I started on mine...well, re-started. Chassis number 2. had some better ideas and decided to start over. In the drawing stage right now and just ordered an axial tranny for the t-case.

Sorry if i missed it, but what are those tires? They are awesome looking!

the tires are mud thrashers by rc4wd, the side walls are really soft and thin so that is why it looks like the front tires are flat

bugz2002
02-15-2009, 01:18 AM
so i fixed the body so it is lower and it looks better but i think it might me just a tad too low but oh well. we got about 2 inch of snow last night and after fixing it (last time i broke a shock off....oops) took it out with the mud thrasher and it did really well and with the BL system i get a lot of wheel spin as you can see in the pictures the inside is COVERED with snow...

and this is my jeep climbing up a big snow hill and rolling over...i was driving it i was talking to video so that is why it rolled lol but afterwords we both made it up the hill with ease. the hill is about 10-12 feet high with a 45-60 degree face. these tires hook up very well on snow/dirt.

going back to the vids, i had some jag at the track who though it was fun to drive willy nilly and run into people's trucks with his nitro-quake. He almost got whooped by those of us there to race on the track after he crossed a track barrier on purpose and hit a rustler and snapped a few things off...then laughed about it. If you know the person and you are horsing around, that's fine, but to do it randomly to strangers? This guy almost got beat down...thankfully the rest of us got everyone calmed down. (he even paid the other guy a few bucks for the broken parts)

totally getting off subject, lol - in any case, how did you manage to bend the styrene over the fenders? is it glued or fit on there? i've heard boiling water helps a ton to make it bend, then let it cool and it retains the shape.

i just glued it part by part and bend the front ones. the back ones were funky as i had to cut and glue. if you look close you can see it.

well it is update time. lets see....i hacked off the fender, removed the roof, made my own roll cage (just about done, first time brazing think i did pretty good) stretched out the WB so it looks right now, added a steel bumper up front, working on a back bumper. it is all water proof now, have the xl5 WP and the slash receiver box with the rc4wd 2.4gz receiver in it.

wow i haven't updated this in a while. well she has a new rollcage that i made my self, which i think turned out pretty good. the finders are gone. made a steel bumper with a stinger on it. now i am deciding whether or not to taper the back or not because the back tires do rub alittle at full articulation. and wondering what kind of wenches are out there other then the 3m? and i was looking at the one from rc4wd. and here are some updated pictures.

this is only good picture i have of it right now and i am too lazy to go take more. lol
