I finally got the third truck at least ready to run. This is the "spare" one that came with when i bought the Toureag. The front of the chassis was hacked completely off, and a few key parts were missing, but i made it all work.
To get it running, i cut up a WK axle to make the missing gear shafts. i needed a long one, and nothing i had was long enough. Thankfully the king shafts were 5mm and plenty long enough, and i had spares. so a little dremel work and i had my 2 missing shafts. Then, i had to make some body mounts to use the King Blackfoot body that was collecting dust on the shelf. Ugly, but you'll never see them with the body on. There's so much velcro, it's hard to get the body off!

Then, since there was nothing on the front of the chassis, I had to make a bumper or skidplate or something. I stared at it for a while, then decided to make a custom bumper and front skidplate. The skid is cut out of an old pizza pie plate, drilled up a bit and polished. It's actually has "Pizza Hut" etched on the back (i grabbed a few old ones from when I worked there 10 years ago specifically for RC parts).

The bumper was a bit of an experiment. I was going to make a full tube bumper, but my first brazing job did not go well...well, it was a disaster really. So i came up with plan B and used some poly, cut it up and bolted it together so it was thick enough, then spent some time sanding it down to a bumper shape. Not sure if i like it or not, but it seemed to work pretty well. Then I added a simple bar on the top (experimenting with brake tubing) and the pro-lne winch and it doesn't look too bad. I think it needs some more detail yet, and I'd like to repaint the body but all in all it's coming along well for what was a pile of parts a few weeks ago.
