started making some major mods to my F350....i wanted to use the more narrow TLT axles for more of a scale look, and drop the suspension a bit so the body sat lower. Lifted, but not way high. the stock stance is good, but i think a little lower and tighter looks more scale.
i didn't want to hack up the TLT's for leaf springs, so i went 4 link. I also didn't want to chop up the JF chassis......so i thought about it for a while, and dug in my parts bin and found that the cliff climber chassis side plates line up perfect with the holes in the chassis. A few bolts and i had an instant 4 link mount! perfect position too, rear links are slightly longer then the fronts. Ugly though, debating on painting the entire thing black, but the body might hide it all.
i also wanted more ground clearance, especially if it was going to sit lower so out came the 3 speed and in went an R2 tranny with a 65t lathe motor. The axles were already tapped and ground for the stampede shafts, so it was a natural match. used a few L brackets for mounts and it dropped right between the frame rails.
Not too far into the build, just mocking up at this point figuring out the link length and what not. but very excited about it!! Should get some more done this weekend.

in 2 minutes? no, lol. Will post up more build pics as i go.
lots of details to sort out. This will be my first chassis mounted servo and not sure how I'm going to make that work with the JF chassis, otherwise it's a pretty painless build so far.

got some more done! baby was sleeping, so i snuck down in the basement...Good and bad.
I got all the links sleeved with brakeline and the shocks mounted. Pretty much sits right where i want it, though axles are still a tad wide. looks much better when sitting lower than the stock ones do though. I also got the steering sorted out, servo mounted and all linkages ready to go. i might come back and do more of a z-bend on the top link, but it works as for now.
and now the bad news - when i was initially cutting the links, i mounted the main body mount/tranny cover backwards on the chassis not really thinking about it....so the body was sitting about an inch forward and i cut the links accordingly. When i went to put the body on tonight to check it all out, i realized my error when the antenna was on the wrong side. So now all my links are off! The axles are both about 3/4 inch to far forward - i should have caught that with the way the shocks were standing up - the ones in the back are way off. In any case, have to start them over...RRRRRR!!! didn't have time to tackle that tonight, but i did mount the trans cover the right way and hacked it out a bit to clear the R2. I was in a hurry, cranky, and pretty much cut without mercy. i'll fix up the links on saturday.

no prob, just goofing around! :D
got the links all fixed up yesterday and started working on a new front bumper. maybe making one out of br**** we'll see how it goes. i ordered a set of pro-line's new 1.9 tires and they showed up yesterday - awesome tires, but they are way to tall to fit in the wheelwells. have to find use for them on another project. Alos picked up 10 led's for lights, i think a few will find their way onto this truck...pics coming!

building a bumper... first foray into metalworking. i used brass as it's easier to work with than brake line, and i don't plan to beat on it too hard so i don't need the strength or extra weight. made room for some extra lights on the front - coming along well!

That looks very cool and I like the way the lights look with the body do you plan on using a whinch or a whinch looking thing( just for looks) or not just because that would look really tihght on that bumper. IMO

no winch, if i didn't add the lights i'd have plenty of room but the lights take it all up!

painted it up and added all the lights last night during the race - looks awesome!!!
i picked up another set of integy wheels and pro-line 1.9 flat irons for this build, but the wheels are gunmetal and think they'll look better on the Jero. So swapping the wheels and tires off the jero for the F-350, and ordered another set of hilift tires for the jero. I'll use the pro-lines somewhere else.
I'll get some pics up soon!
going forward, debating painting the Junfac chassis black for scale purposes. Breaks my heart, the machining looks so nice! and it means a total teardown again, but i think it'll look sweet when done. Not sure yet, want to get it out and see how it looks.

taking that apart anymore is a pain with all the lighting and what not in place. wires everywhere.
the more i think about it, the more i think i'm going to paint it. :)

Painted and wheels mounted! Stance is perfect, exactly what i was looking for. Test run soon, then got some other painting and finished details to do.

i just had to take it out at night to check out the lights....no running, just poser shots for now. I have a lot of wires and what not to clean up.

Very cool but I think that the bumper looks as if it goes out too far if you do a whole exo then it will look fine but it gives the truck a wierd prespective as it sits.
IMHO

it does stick out a bit further than i wanted....but not bad for a first shot! probably push the wheels out a bit in the front and it should offset some of that overhang.
