Sweet collection you have going. Have you seen the new Multi-Function control unit for the Ford F-350 High-Lift. You may have to purchase that as well.

i have indeed seen the MFU, i have sold some of my collection - mostly gas - to start paying for some new toys. Getting back into electric, ever since brushless motors hit the scene, i've been drifting back. I'm sure there's a MFU in my future somewhere.

and the 350 is finally done!! well, almost - still have to modify the traxxas radio to work with the 3 speed, just running gears 1 and 2 right now with the rocker switch.

running bone stock right now, debating what to do with it.

Some dramatic night shots.... (or i finshed it last night and couldn't wait to show it off....)

Thanks!

Currently working on resurrecting an old Wild Dagger that's been sitting in a parts bin for years. i have a super rooster that needs a home....

and a TLT/Clodbuster frankenstein creation...

pics to come

OldSchoolRC

While i was waiting for some parts for the Dagger to come in, I started working on the frankenstein.

To explain a little how it came to be, I took my super clod apart a while ago and had a pretty nice crawler out of it, then sold it and was left with a pretty sweet body and chassis left over. Hmmmm....

A while ago, i was looking on the other side of my bench, my TLT crawler was sitting there ready to go, just never got around to mounting a body. Hmmmmm...

Wonder if that TLT chassis fits in the clod chassis?

A lot of dremel time later - turns out it does!

OldSchoolRC
06-25-2007, 09:04 PM
got a little more done after work. Hung the axles in the TLT frame, and used a mix of associated and traxxas links to get close to the right wheelbase. Re-used some of the clod links and 5mm pivot balls for the rod ends, and some old Mamimum MT dogbones that i found. For it to sit at the right height, the driveshaft angle is a little iffy....have to see how it works out.

OldSchoolRC
06-26-2007, 10:04 PM
Got a little more done...didn't like the way the chassis looked with the axles, just looked too....thick. and it limited articulation,, so i sectioned out the wheels wells. Test fit the body too - not too bad, it's sitting a little high for my tastes though, and the chassis looked a little....too round. oh well, one thing at a time.

OldSchoolRC

Added shocks (old school tamiya yellow) and wheels...finally starting to get there. I used the yellow shocks partly to keep it all in the tamiya family, and partly cause i have about a dozen of them laying around. if i decide to make this more of a scale build, i'll replace them with something a little more scale looking.

OldSchoolRC
07-08-2007, 08:22 PM
well, i took it out for a drive and found a few things lacking. the tamiya shocks were super stiff, and sat up a little too high so the truck was a little too tippy at speed. i swapped them out with some old duratrax shocks and the fit was perfect, and brought the ride height where it should be. they were also filled with 20wt and used some soft tamiya TC springs and the ride is about perfect. I slapped the body together and went out for some test runs...here are some shots! ran like a dream!

OldSchoolRC
07-17-2007, 09:01 PM
when i sold my clod crawler, i was left with a super rooster and no home. On the shelf sat a beat up old wild dagger i had previously drove into the ground. hmmm...what on earth can i make out of this?

2 Great planes 22t 550's, some borrowed kyosho shocks (longer then stock,) some masher 2k's and a few odds and ends, and the Dagger is resurrected!

some pics from it's trial run - using a leftover traxxas body (which may be a sin of some kind, i'm not sure.)

Plenty of torque, and with its weight and good traction, it climbs really well - especially with the open diffs. Suprisingly, i got a good run time with two motors - but it certainly isn't a speed demon.

Couple of changes needs: the stock steering servo cannot handle the HT servo and the big tires, it just gives. Badly. and the shocks are far too light, and the travel is still not great, even with the longer shocks.

Deciding what's next. Since it's not a speed demon, and has a good amount of torque, thinking a little time with the dremel, and i can get 15t pinions in there for a little more grunt. Lock the diffs, give it a little more travel and it'll be a fun backyard crawler.

also, i am thinking about turning the WK into a dedicated crawler too, might make for a good comparison. You rarely see an independent suspension crawler....see what happens!

Well, the dagger was coming along nicely, however they started re-paving the parking lot at work on Monday. Hmm...an acre of fresh, billiard table smooth asphalt. Think it's time to take a break from the dirt - a short break mind you - and find something to play with on this lot.

This Tamiya FF02 was laying on the shelf pretty much bone stock. i recently converted my TL01 to a buggy and had most of the hop up parts sitting in a bin somewhere, so i put them all on the FF02 just to see how it would work out. Turns out it's a pretty cool project. I like different, and FWD is a very different set-up.

I added a tamiya long arm suspension set which gives better suspension geometry (by far) and adjustable upper arms. To further help handling, a set of TL01 swawbars starting with soft on both ends was added and Hot Bodies touring shocks replaced the friction dampers. For the driveline, i added a tamiya ball diff, and shimmed both the gears in the tranny and the dogbones so it spins super smooth.

A cool tip is to use cut fuel tubing in the diff and drive cups not just to keep the dogbone from falling out, but by varying the lengths you can keep the dogbone as centered as possible - especially on on-road where you don't have a lot of suspension travel. Tamiyas tend to flop around a bit after getting some wear - It's no universal, but it really smooths out the chatter.

Still deciding on a motor and electronics, should get some work done tonight!

OldSchoolRC
07-26-2007, 09:39 PM
done! Well almost..

Added a carbon rear..thing instead of that ugly rear bumper. i used plastic shims to hold the swaybar on.

Used an Airtronics BL speed controller and a Havoc 17T and an 18t pinion. The receiver is wrapped in foam and tucked inside the chassis. I might put the speed control in there as well, not sure yet.

I used the stock wheels and tires because they have a little bit of offset and they fill out the wheel wells perfect. i tried some others, but they didn't look quite right. I'm thinking black would look a bit sinister....i like it.

The body has a tamiya wing from an opel body added and a blue ghost pattern on the body. i have the mirrors somewhere....there some work to be done but getting there!

OldSchoolRC

well, the celica has been out for a few spins and drives great! i set up a makeshift roadcourse with some cones on the parking lot at work and zipped around and had a blast! handles great, just a little weird around turns with the front wheel drive, takes a little getting used to.

only trouble is, i have been spoiled with brushless and nitro and a 17t just wasn't quite cutting it on this big, wide open lot. so what would a hot rodder do? take the fastest motor you have and stuff it in the smallest car you have....so my miata which was pretty much bone stock (except bearings, I never run without them) got a bit of an upgrade..

I took my SS4300 with sintered rotor and shoehorned it in there. i also added oil shocks, aluminum ball studs and kingpins, and a set of swaybars to help cope with the higher speeds on pavement. Haven't had the chance to run it yet, but i have the feeling it's going to be just a little bit faster then the celica...

OldSchoolRC
08-04-2007, 10:12 AM
just as an update, this car is sick - aftert the first run i had to re-glue the tires back on as they peeled off completely. while it was running, it was suprisingly easy to drive. i thought the brushless motor would make it uncontrollable, but the sticky rear tires held on great. once i get to about 1/4 throttle, i can plant it and it just goes! Only trouble is after 2-3 runs the rear tires are looking decidely worn....

brought back memories of when i had the real deal...i may have broken just a few of PA's motor vehicle laws.....though with the stock 1.6l, i think the 1/10 version might just be faster - to 40 mph anyway. And yes, the CRX was mine too.

and on to the next project - or back to some old ones....so many projects, so little time! the road is fun, but i'm a dirt guy, so i think it's back to the dirt.

OldSchoolRC

while the onroad was fun, and still is, i'm a dirt guy at heart, so back to the dirt we go. I have been itching to do something with my wheelie king - one of the coolest new trucks out in a long time imo.

Stage 1 was adding 4wd, an XL5 esc and 12T from my stampede, stiffer springs to help it handle better, and wheels with more offset to give some extra width for stability. Truck ran good and was plenty fun. i bombed around quite a bit with that set up until the rear ring and pinion imploded...so while i had it apart, it was time for some upgrades! here's a pic of stage one...

OldSchoolRC
08-05-2007, 10:49 AM
and some pics of stage 2!

i wasn't quite sure what to do with it - did i want it to be a dedicated crawler or keep it as a backyard basher...in the end, i tried to do a little of both.

i added some new lower links to bring the wheelbase out a bit, it adds about 1.5 inches or so total and brings it out to 1/10 scale. I lengthend only the back half for now, used an old T-Maxx driveshaft and all i had to do was trim it down a bit and it fit perfect. The extended upper link was made from some aluminum and brass tubing and the lower links are an old set of revo pushrods. Everything worked out perfect!

i swapped the 12T 550 for a 17T motor and geared it down - it has almost the same speed and its a little easier on the ESC and gears. it's fast enough to be interesting, and not so fast that it overwhelms the suspension. Plus i get much better run time with the 17T.

if you notice on the WK, where the shocks and rods mount on the axles, there is plenty of play - especially for the shocks. i broke 2 before now while bashing. to help this as well as get rid of some of the play, i shimmed it all up with fuel tubing to allow some give while at the same time keeping everything from sliding around. seems to work great

I added a pro-line F-150 body which may be my favorite truck body out there. i had to cut it out pretty good to accomodate the tires, but left enough on there to keep the basic body shape. this body had been beat up pretty good, and has been mounted on 2 other trucks - i'm not building a concours winner here, so a bashed body on a basher works perfect for me.

finally, i added an old set of duratrax MT tires since they are slighly larger than stock and fill out the stance perfect. they have terrible traction - even compared to the stock tires - but for bombing around, a little slip isn't the worst thing in the world. i'll be trying out some other set-ups to see what works best.

it runds great - much better than i expected! it has plenty of articulation for when i hit the rocks, and even with the rear axle brace gone, it doesn't twist too bad at all just driving around. when adding the longer links, it changed the sshock geometry to add sme much needed stability. all i added was an extra preload collar on the right rear shock and it's very stable - even when punching it from a dead stop. it does lean going around turns and will get some bicycle action, but i love it - makes it a challenge to drive!

i tried to get some action pics for the first time...it's tough to drive and get the pics, but some came out pretty good! not bad for a first timer!

time for something different. i bought this MT18 SS back when the dirt track was still open and raced it a few times in the 2wd truck class. Just for fun really, it's a 1/10 scale truggy for the most part back before truggies were the rage.

anyway, the track closed, so i race it around as a backyard basher, but it really doesn't have the ground clearance or suspension travel to tackle the backyard. To be honest, i've been a little disappointed with this truck - the handling has never really been great since day 1. So it's been sitting on my shelf kinda wasting away, and while i'm having fun on my parking lot, i may as well have a little nitro fun too, and built this truck up a little for conditions that it can better tackle: on-road.

These are the before pics, only a few mods to it - lightweight flywheel and HPI racing clutch - 2 must haves, this thing revved like it had a boat anchor tied to it with the stock parts...and i sealed and siliconed the diffs. I'm sure most has leaked out since, it's been sitting for a while but it held up pretty good while i was running it. I added a header that is port matched to the engine, and i replaced the rear shocks with long Associated ones as the geometry worked out a little better for my driving style. (and i could adjust a little bit - cannot do it with the stock shock locations.) That's it!

As is, this thing flies. it's geared a little high and takes a while to get up and go, but when it does, look out!

I'll post some pics as i change it over to street duty.

Some pics of the buildup.....

nothing too fancy, i was going to pick up the carbon radio plate and shock towers, but they were backorderd at the moment.

In any case, it's coming along well! I swapped out the .18 for the time being and dropped in an .15 OS CVR that was looking for a home. The stock .18 runs great, but a little too hot for my tastes. I left the pipe stock as where i plan to run it there are a bunch of houses around and i'm sure the quieter exhaust will be aprreciated.

I added a 2 apeed tranny, and some new shocks with pro-line dual rate springs. It's a pretty stiff set up, but for on-road, should work out well.

OldSchoolRC
08-23-2007, 09:19 PM
ok, finally making some more progress!

chassis is back together, and new wheels and tires are on. Using Victory wheels and Ananconda tires - a sweet combo imho. Now that i have them on and can see how it sits, I'll have to lower the ride height a bit - sits way too high for onroad dury. Shock oil is a little too light, so i have to take them off anyway.

only some small details to take care of, i have to rig up a new linkage for the slide carb, cut some air holes in the body, and add some new fuel tubing and ready to rock! Can't wait to get this thing out on the road!

(Note the shiny newly painted workbench!!)

Nice Ride!! Looks like it's all buisness.I like the look of if too.It doesn't have that funky HPI look.It looks alot like my Jato's with that tire and wheel combo.Did you like glueing those funky Traxxas tire and wheels together.I hated doing mine.I used the Jato 3.3 rims with some Stampede 2.8 Talon tires for off-road and grass. These seem to work real well for me here in Fla.Later,Wrench.

well, only had a few minutes to work on th RC's this weekend, and didn't feel like tearing apart the shocks on the MT, so worked on my Clod-LT a bit. cleaned it up a bit, it was completely covered in mud! (the way it SHOULD be - look close and there is still some goop on there) Did some detail painting and some decals while watching the race, and narrowed a set of HPI rims and put them on instead of the chromies. i meant to only narrow the back of the rims, but not paying attention and hurrying my way through a few caution laps, i cut off the front of one of the rims by mistake. so what the heck, made them super narrow. looks pretty good overall, the tires were pretty beat previously, so not wasting anything by trying the narrow look.

This thing is starting to look pretty scale....hmmm. it's never going to be a beauty like some of the others on this site, but it's pretty unique, a fun drive and i think i can get it looking pretty decent with a bit more work. first thing to go is that front bumper.....the rocks have not been kind to it!

OldSchoolRC

just a quick update - got the shocks sorted out so the ride height is where it needs to be. looks much better and more suited for on road action. trimmmed up the front bumper a bit too, i might trim it some more but looks much cleaner. Still some more details to do.

Resurrected: my old lunch box....this is my second oldest vehicle, i have had this thing for years!! It has been sitting in parts in my workshop, so i bought a few parts trees and a clear parma body and put it back to running order. Bone stock except for a futaba ESC, wild willy wheels and some bearings.

This is my first paint attempt using liquid mask - painting has never been my strong suit, i tend to just slap on a single color and call it a day, but working with the mask is pretty cool! takes a little getting used to though, learned a few things not to do in the process. Figured this body was going to take a beating, so it would make a good practice body.

Oh, and the UPS guy finally showed up with my Hotshot!!! All other projects have been put on hold, i have been waiting for this thing for months!!

Got it nearly finished over the past few days, but taking my time and enjoying the build. 2 things come to mind when buillding this:

1. We have come a LONG way in 22 years technology-wise...
2. This thing is a masterpiece of engineering imo. This is no easy build, there are a lot of little intricate parts, and it's a very cool car to put together. Whoever dreamed up that rear suspension? This was probably my second favorite build after my hi-lift. Window mesh? too cool!

here's where i am at, getting close to completion! I added bearings and a sport tuned motor, but otherwise building right to the directions.

I loved it Noidce to see another one up and runing .

God only knows how many times i burned myself on those half globe Heat resistors behind the drivers cab LOL . I knwo your laffin You have done it too. Ok In closing Your collection is awesome and Well Good luck with it.

ok, been a while since i updated....job searching is not fun, takes away from playtime!!

some pics of the hotshot as finished. Rarely do i finish a car so box stock all the way down to the decals, but this car deserved no less! i added bearings and the sport tuned motor and that's it! I did take off the fake heatsinks though, looks cooler without them imho. If you are looking for a cool build, i cannot say enough about this kit.

i've run it a few times in the driveway, and once the gears (lots of them) broke in it ran pretty good! handling isn't bad at all with those monoshocks...

Cleaned up the ClodLT a little bit, here are some pics of before and after. When i hacked the clod chassis, i was left with a little overhang on each end. (top pics) i cut that off even with the body and added some chassis bracing to keep it from flexing. i extended the braces out behind the rear wheels and made some scale sized exhast pipes.... Looks great front and rear, not much i can do with the center of the chassis at this point.

next job for it: adding some wheels wells and painting the underside of the body black - it really needs it.

Plan on running this configuration till the tranny fails (outdrives are looking really worn) and i have a RC4WD R2 tranny on the way...it'll officially be a scale project at that point.

ok, been spending so much time with the track that i have a lot of projects piling up. just figured i'd post some before pics - it makes the after pics that much cooler.

first, i took my TL01B buggy and am converting it into a rally car for the track. I cracked the frame, broke the gear diff and drive cup and splintered the carbon prop shaft running my brushless motor in it - just wasn't made for that kind of power - so i tore it down and am using some spare parts to build it into a rally car. i don't mind if it gets beat up, and it doesn't need to be too fast anyway - track is kinda small. I picked up a set of tamiya rally tires and a new focus body to finish it up.

it's just a pile of parts right now really.....just started this one.

OldSchoolRC
10-11-2007, 10:50 PM
here's the start of the Lamboghini... Tower was out of the matte chrome rims, so i went for full on chrome....not quite as per the movie, but should look pretty cool anyway. I took the brushless system out of the miata before the rear tires disintegrated and dropped it on my TC3 chassis and i just got the body today. now just have to figure out how to make the front wing. I geared it to the moon, so with those wide tires on the back this thing should be a rocket.

Ebay find!! a 1/10 (ish) Kyosho scale series cobra...needs a ton of work, but the body is actually not too bad. At least all the accessory parts are still there. Another project in the works....uses the TLT axles from the clodTLT hybrid. I was going to use Wheely King axles, but they were much too wide for a 1/10 scaler. Chassis looks a little "home depot" at the moment, but just roughing it all out for the time being.

i do get some things done, this was the "pile of parts" a few post ago. it's a Baja King turned TL01 rally car. Nothing too fancy, just a few new arms, a new body, some HPI wheels and Tamiya rally block tires and this is ready to hit the track! Stock motor with bearings and a front one-way.

i originally had every intention of doing the body exactly like the box art, but then i decided to leave the sponsor decals off, I think it looks pretty slick as is - that's a cool body!

Cool looking body! I was going to do the same body on a Nitro TC3 but something came up(something ALWAYS comes up) and I didn't get the body. but it ws to be black. Oh yea I like Focus's.

some pics of the Kyosho cobra project from a few posts ago. it is coming along awesome!

The chassis is very unique, I'm not sure quite where to mount everything. The tranny is a lay down 3 gear that looks in perfect shape and very efficient. Oddly enough, the diff is filled with silicone....that was a suprise. No shocks though, it just has springs built into the arms.

i pulled it all apart and cleaned and oiled everything, and added bearings while i was at it. I didn't like the way it sat with the stock size wheels, so i'm going to see what i can do to make it a little more scale looking. just some pics of the cleaned up chassis and tranny.

hey there what kind of body is that. i like it.

that is a traxxas stampede body! it's pretty narrow to begin with, so with some trimming out it fit well and actually looked pretty good. plus it was cheap, so if i banged it all up i wasn't so worried about it.

Did you say wheelie king??? :) The body is not done yet, but the chassis is back in business! it's a little muddy, it's been out for a few "test drives" that looked suspiciously like bash sessions.

I was going to tear this down and crawl with it, but it looked so cool bashing around the backyward i decided to keep it a basher. I added a bunch of aluminum goodies to the truck and the entire project is coming along well. This truck is getting big - it's now longer then my revo.

Believe it or not, the steering link is from an old TA02 center driveshaft that was cut down, drilled, tapped and polished. First time i ever tried drilling and tapping - went well!

For power, I dropped in an oldie but goodie mayhem 550 to add some torque in to offset the extra weight. I did gear it back to almost stock though to keep some speed. it has tons of oomph off the line, and tops out up around 12mph or so which sounds slow but it pretty fast for a big monster truck with tippy handling. a truck this big though deserves more power!

the suspension is perfect, this truck just floats over the ground - the only thing it needs is a set of swaybars to help cornering and a slipper clutch.

the body is still in the paintshop, finding one that fit was a problem. hope to have it finished by this weekend.

i put this truck on a while ago, but never explained it. i just had it out over the weekend and was reminded of what a fun project this turned out to be.

i took the body off my wild willy for yet another project, and was left with the chassis sitting on the shelf. i had some wheels left over from my TLT and with the chassis proportions, i thought they would make a cool little mini.

turns out it does.

i had to modify the front to accept the hex drives. TA02 knuckles slid right in, and gave the truck much more offset. i made new steering links and the front came together perfect. i added TG10 long axles and hubs in the back to widen it to match the front.

i made some body mounts out of br**** and shopped around until i found a cheap RC with a body that would fit the wheelbase. A little dremel time, and the body dropped right on. Some leftover Blackfoot decals and a bit of paint added some color.

turns out the truck is much lighter and a 17T motor running a 20T pinion was WAY too much. i'm currently running the stock motor and it's perfect. it wheelies at will, and bombs all over the backyard. With the smaller body and lower CG, handling is also pretty good. Rarely does it tip due to the stiff springs, and the only change i made to the suspension as to add 60wt shock oil to the back shocks.

this is the mini that tamiya should have made - this thing is tough as nails and a ton of fun!

Where do you get the parts for these old classics. I have an old Futaba FX10 and I check Ebay all the time, but they have the same old parts constantly and never the ones I need. I love the old cars. I am especally fond of the Kyosho Vannings. Those are TOO COOL!!!

well, i have been in the hobby for 17 years now.. (wow - has it been that long!!!!) and i have accumulated a lot of stuff in that time frame, and since i never toss anything out, i have a lot of stuff piled in my workshop. i would say i am more conversant in R/C than i am in my daily job.

my first car was a.....FX10! my parents told me if i got straight A's, they'd buy it for me and a lot of studying later, i got my first kit, and i have been hooked since. (i even drove it for 2 months bfore realizing i was missing the axle pins...wow, what a difference - ha!) that car has gone the way of the dodo unfortunately, but i have kept a remarkable amount of stuff around.

as far as searching around for old parts, i just keep an eye out and if something grabs my attention, i snag it up. the cobra project looked awesome, and it's the only thing i bought in a while old-wise. i only buy it if i know i have the parts to make something out of it....some of these old kits are impossible to find parts for. however i am getting more and more into custom builds - for me, building and modifying is the best part of the hobby. i only wish my job would let me be as creative! it's not uncommon to spend hours at a time in the basement workshop humming away while the gutters go uncleaned and the grass need to be mowed. now i just need to build an R/C lawnmower....

if i get some time, i'll post a list of the cars i have owned, i've had some good ones in there, and it's a good sized list. some of my favorites are the old Kyosho SGP10's and FW04's - they were cool cars! as i get older (not old mind you, just older) i am finding the vintage stuff more and more attractive for some strange reason. buggies and truggies...ehh..dime a dozen right now. Show me a pristine optima, bruiser, or avante running around, and i am a lot more excited. it may be a sickness of some kind, i'm not sure. :)

For carbon fiber, strong and light
for aluminum, polished up bright
for brushless power, it's gone in a flash
for big bore shocks, that take what i bash
for FM radio, which keeps me in control
for the beautiful beadlocks on which i roll
for nitro power, fast, burly, and loud
for strong servos that keep me out of the crowd
for solid axles, that twist to the top
for the Dremels and drill presses in my shop

Happy Thanksgiving all!

took the ClodLT apart and am trying to figure out what to do with it. i started making a custom chassis for a scaler, and that was working out well, then just for giggles i put the axles on a chopped TLT chassis and this is pretty interesting too. i cut about 1 inch off the bottom of the chassis, mounted the tranny flush to it and moved the links up further. Almost all the holes were already there. scaler or crawler? hmm....

thinking the body is a great starting point for some kind of killer chassis underneath. Sooner or later though...have some other projects to finish up first. this pic is with my Revo and mini LST as a size reference...yes, it's huge!

the shocks on the TLT are stock WK shocks and springs. The ones on my WK are stock bodies with stiffer black HPI springs. The springs are option parts for either the WK or the MTSS which has the same size rear shocks.

TLT is done!! took it out for a spin in the basement and talk about gearing, this thing absolutely creeps along. Awesome for the torque though - especially with the 550. Suspension is super soft, almost a little too much so. i might use shorter shocks as it's a little too flexy for me. i had to take the twist picture first though :)

hmm...i never really shows pics of my nitros. in fact, i haven't even taken this out in about a year now, but i need to get them out and do some running and cleaning. This is my old Savage .25SS. Pretty well modded, nothing to add weight - only performance. 3 speed tranny, dual disc brakes, lower CG chassis set and HPI performance suspension. I added the integy shock towers in aluminum just to have more adjustments for the shocks - i would have kept them plastic if i could have found some to save the weight.

the body was trashed and i chucked it. it would have been a crime against the eyes to post it on here - in fact, this entire truck needs a good cleaning and polishing. new body will be coming in time for summer

Runs like a champ, and handles very well for its size. that lower CG chassis and suspension really made a difference.

ok, version 1,598 of the versatile TLT set-up. Decided to go the scale route, and i think this one is a winner.

the crawler set up was nice, but it climbed all over my backyard with no problems...it was almost boring. in fact, i never even put a body on the chassis. so i went out looking for one and found this new bright "crawler" at the local department store. They had jeep bodies which is what i was looking for, but they are completely sold out so i picked up this one (i had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket) I trial fit the body and it looked better with a more scale set up, so a scale land rover it is!

Actually, i'm really starting to like the "Landy" and i think it'll look pretty slick when done .... i trimmed the wheelwells to fit the tires and am re-working the links to fit the wheelbase. I also added some extensions to the chassis so it better fits the body and to give a more scale place to mount the shocks. Not looking for a ton of articulation here, so straight up and down should work ok. Swapped out the 22t 550 for a 55t lathe motor while i was in there too. just a mock up pic with the body sitting on top. Lots to do yet....

i modded the hilift a bit. I made approx. 1/4" lift blocks and tucked them in under the leafs to make a little more clearance for the 2.2 wheels. They still hit the front bumper just a bit, but it is much better than it was previously. I removed the roll bar and brushguards for the time being and locked up the diffs to go play in the snow. What little we have anyway. Ran great, I absolutely love this truck!
