hey guys alot of you know I got an emaxx and I didnt think it would be nice to hog the show us what you drive thread so Im gunna put it were it belongs... heres a link to the starting picshttp://rcdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3360

I finally got a full run through it and when I was done the motors were really!!! hot!!!!!! I did look into the mesh setting and it was to tight but I dont know that if its the entire problem... I did see a fair amount of arcing... and for some odd reasone one of the motors is missing some of the fan fins?!?!? again I dont know why they are missing... I think Im gunna have to buy some new motors:rolleyes: and they are hard wired so they need to be cut off... what else could be wrong?

If they are the stock titan 550s, wich it sounds like they are, throw them in the garbage can and get some Kershaw Designs 650's or higher. They are inexpensive, an awsome upgrade, draw less current from the batteries( Not as hot of a pack when done bashing/racing) and they add tremendous power. I can attest that the stock motors will wear out at different rates causing one motor to take up more of the slack, causing hotter battery pack. The mesh can do it some too. Also, look for damaged axles, bearings, ect along the drive system. Anything that causes drag on the power train will amplify pack heat. I would go with the motor thing even if you find any other problems. I believe 100% in Kershaw designs, and I WILL use them again and again when I need power and torque. P.S., I gained some top end changing over to Kershaw, but the biggest difference was off the line and throughout the power range. Hope this helps.

X3 three on kernshaw designs. The 650 kit is great sine nothing has to be replaced. If you go 700 HO or 970's I forwarn big HP, but broken parts.

x4! i have some basic unprepped 650's from Dan and i picked them up for about $18 shipped off the bay. great deal and they move my 1/6 truck with authority!! they'd be great in a smaller maxx. Just remove the wires and capaciters from the titans and solder them onto the 650's, grind or file a flat spot on the shaft and you'll be in business. for $18, can't beat it.

I need to take a look inside the tranny box yet but otherwise this truck was pretty well taked care of... and I really want to do kershaw just need to save up some cash probebly gunna do the 900 sized ones... just to be overkill lol:D this truck has some pretty big pinions on it to... anybody know what the stock pinion size is?

The Kershaw Designs 650 has changed to the 650S. Don't get the older 650 motors. They had an inherent problem that has been addressed in the new 650S.

The older KD650 motors that I inherited were dogs even when compared to the stock Titans. I worked with KD's owner and it was explained that the old 650 motors were discontinued for this reason.

alright I changed my mind once again... Im gunna do the 650s motors... mostly because I dont have the money to go and buy the whole new tranny kit... lol.... I just tried out the reset gear mesh and it seemed to help alot... the truck was to muddy to test it out by rolling it on the floor lol

Maxx man
04-03-2009, 12:50 PM
guess what? I changed my mind again... the 970 motor conversion with one motor is $60 so Im gunna do that... its not that much money and one motor pust out more then both titans and upgrading to the second motor is only a $10-$15 upgrade... but Im gunna need the robinson racing slipper first lol

Maxx man
04-03-2009, 03:44 PM
well I took the motors out and pushed the truck without the motors and theres no drag at all... everything is the motors... guess I need some new ones

Get a pinion less than 40 tooth! If you get a 30 or below you'll be so happy with the tourq. At 40/72 second gear is too much, it bogs, but a 28/72 would be perfect since the sencond gear would give great top end, and pull wheelies all over. Get the single 970 kit, later on you can add the 2nd motor, get ready to break some parts!!

Maxx man

I counted and the pinion is an 18t pinion... so I guess its just motors being so hot? I dont know... anyway... Im gunna get that single 970 kit for my maxx... will I need capasitors? Im probebly just gunna hardwire it to the ecs

oh wait you mean the kershaw 970 lol... I have a 99 tooth spur in it so will the 40t pinion be ok?

the slipper is a duel disk... is that the same as the stock emaxx?

Maxx man
04-03-2009, 09:43 PM

They stop glitching. IMO you don't need them, but to be safe get them.

Maxx man
04-04-2009, 10:50 PM
well thankfully the single motor kd 970 motor kit has capasitors, wire, and some other things...

since it came with a clear body and I dont have any paint I drove it without the shell and I broke the front body posts... lol

one of the batteries that came with it are bad the charger wont charge it:(

Im hoping after I get the 970 motor kit to get a roll cage... they have some on ebay for $20 but Im not sure...

Maxx man
04-07-2009, 03:12 PM
what do you guys think? it says it will fit... they have some for a bid at $.99 and theres no bids on em... if nobody bids I might have to do it...

Roll cages are ugly IMO, forget the little stuff and work for those motors.

Maxx man
04-07-2009, 10:55 PM
the motors are first on my list... but for how hard I bash a roll cage is needed:D I broke my slash again today actually

I put a cage on my revo. It caused more problems than it helped. The very first time I rolled it hard, it bent really bad. It was difficult to straighten back out. It was one of the better cages, had a car parked on it in the pics. But, it made it more topheavy, broke my bumper mounts, broke my rear "shock tower/body post mounts,(revo shocks hooked up on chassis not shock tower but I do not know what else to call them)". IMO, steer clear of the roll cage, run with a good body, it helps more than the cage does. The battery thing can be just 1 cell being damaged. You can check that with a volt meter, and replace the bad cell and still have a good pack. I would hack up my bad sticks, use the good cells, and build 7 and 8 cell packs for the rusty and tc4. It saved money and increased performance.

Maxx man

cool thanks for the info... gotta check that cell now...

Maxx man

well I broke a driveshaft today... were the metal pin meets the drive shaft... so I took it apart and while I was at it I found that is has a steel oil filled diff:D so no need to mod that:D Ill get pics later

Maxx man
05-12-2009, 09:28 PM
just took a closer look and its alluminum diff gear...

I think Im gunna get some steel cvd's for it and not get more stockers...

Maxx man
05-12-2009, 09:40 PM

quick question then this thread can be burried once more...

Im gunna get a new ecs for my emaxx (obviosly the evx-2) so I can drop in 14 cells... cheapbatterypacks.com has some 14cell hybrid packs that will fit into the old style emaxx's(like myn) but I have one question... when I get the evx-2 I was thinking about getting some of those trinity 550 rebuildable motors and I was wondering should I get a 17t or 19t? or are they even worth it?

I would go with the kd 700's but were I race we are limited to 550 cans so if you guys have an opinion let me know thanks!

I have one. The mild (21t) motor, but I can't tell the difference between the stocker and it at 8.4 volts in my scaler. I know these work, since I saw them in a E-revo with two 2s Lipos.(2nd Link) That thing screamed. You might go dual speed gems, but no lower than 15t. Like these. I can't help ya on the wild and pro 550's though.

the emaxx I have when I changed out hte motor I got some traxxas 12t's.... first Im gunna get the esc... I think another 2.4v will help the performence a whole lot!

can anybody else help me? I saw a vid on youtube that had the wild (19t) and it seemed a bit faster then the stock

I dont want to go 540 because 550 has just a little bit more tourqe... and I love wheelies :D I think you can guess what I need for my emaxx huh?

Maxx man
06-19-2009, 02:33 PM
good news!!!! I just got my new batteries today it was $68 for two 3300mah 6cell batteries shipped:D thanks cheapbatterypacks! I got it with traxxas connectors cause I dont really like the deans... so I need to change out the connectors on my emaxx (gotta go to the hobby shop oh darn:p) or get some deans to traxxas leads so I can used deans if I run across a good pack with deans on em

Maxx man
06-19-2009, 07:58 PM
ok good news... the hobby shop didnt have any deans to traxxas connectors but the guy was nice enough to sodder some up for me:D I would do it but my iron sucks... its only a 30wat so it doesnt like to melt the sodder very well...

just got inside from running the new packs... they are amazing!!!!!! never had a pack with so much punch:eek: was a lil damp out for wheelies:rolleyes: but once it dries out this thing should wheely on demand more then ever!!!! looks like a whole new truck... I couldnt imagine what this would look like on 14cells!! to bad I dont have the esc to handle it...

I also got a good 15min of runtime to.... and by no means did I go easy on the truck

Yea maxxes with good batts are stupid. When my was stock, except for the EVX2, I put two of the "custom" Elite 5000's in it from a buddy. Thing hung with truggys on the strait at the old track. With the dual 970's it was crazy. I wish I had those batteries with that set up. It was stupid on crappy packs, with the 14 cells it would have been insane.

Maxx man
06-19-2009, 11:02 PM
I love these packs sooooo much!!!!! and for $68 shipped for both you cant beat it!!!! I think the 19t motors are in order now:D I may need to upgrade to metal drive shafts first

even with the 12 cells I felt like I had 14!!!!!!! it was amazing!
