im thinkin about gettin a t-maxx 2.5r for $50, comes it manual, starter, shock oil etc. will not do any big jumps (all i have atm is like a 3 ft wide field line ditch with a small hump) will not get it wet or anything and itll only be on dry pavement, dry dirt and dry sand. just need it for somethin fun to play with and let our little dogs chase after it. will it be worth the money? everything is in good shape and all it might need is a good body and maybe a new glo plug.

just got it last night, forgot to get the air filter, clips for the body, and the crystal for the reciever on the truck. will get all those today hopefully.

another question: it has the ez start system, when i crank the motor and it starts running, do i need to take off the wire that goes to the glow plug?

Nope, just pull the EZ-start off.

ok, new update on the truck: starter was bad, got a starter off somethin else that mounts up and it works so far. gonna mout it back on the truck and see if it works, and if it runs good i will buy it for $75 with the charger and everything. if it doesnt work he will give me another starter motor for it.

got the starter on. my sisters bf cranked it and it went dead after a few seconds. looked at it and the previous owner messed with the setting on the engine (every possible thing that can turn he meesed with) and i had to reset it. going to crank it in about 2- 3 hrs if it stops raining.

P.S.: some of u guys after readin this might think its not a good deal for having to work on the motor so much. i can get another motor for free from the guy im buyin it from but im not because nitro rc cars is a new expirence for me. if it doesnt crank ill quit updatin the topic and jsut replace the whole motor and everything.

no putting this kinda work into the truck is worth it! motors are pricy and the trucks even more so... let us know how it works out!

If the truck doesn't come with the owners manual or dvd all you have to do is go to traxxas.com and look up the manual for that engine (it's a pdf so you will need the updated version of adobe reader to do this). Once you do that just re-set the needle valves and the idle screw to stock settings per their instructions, and tune the engine from there to run best in your environment. If you would rather watch how it's done instead of reading about it youtube used to have the tuning video on their site, but I'm not sure if it's still on there so you will have to look. Just my 2 cents worth. Let us know what happens.

i would get it but proceed with caution. buying any used r/c car has its risks, especially nitro. when a car is priced at 50$ this could be a further warning signal that something else is up. if you have seen the truck and know it is in good condition then you should be fine, however be prepared to spend a little extra getting it in good running shape.
