Hey guys, I've made a few changes to the Speed-T since the review, and wanted to update you guys.
First off, I mentioned having some problems with the diff in the review. Turns out I shattered one of the washers in the thrust bearing. This time I completely rebuilt the diff, so no compounding problems would occur. I'm happy to report it is now buttery smooth, and has no problems handling the power from the brushless motor, and lipo battery.
Since I usually store the lipo with a charge in it, this has become the first car I grab out of convenience, and it's been pretty much hassle free. While it's perfect for bashing out in my parking lot, I wanted to make it more dirt oriented, so I could take it out with my other cars. I started by dropping a couple teeth to an 18-tooth pinion. I originally planned to get some XXXT Sport wheels, with some kind of ribs and pins combo, but I was swayed when I saw the Smasher XL tires, on the Deep Dish wheels. I'm easily distracted by shiny things. They were available in in a Blue and Violet compound, I got the Blue which I believe is the longer wearing of the two. Turns out they are great all around tires. Work as well in the street as they do in the dirt. I wanted a body that sat a little higher, and looked more off road oriented, but I wasn't sure what would fit the Speed-T's longer wheelbase. When I discovered Proline's Desert Rat body offered as a direct fit for the Speed-T. Perfect, it has just the desert truck styling I was looking for. I also took the wheelie bar off. It will lift the front end higher now when pulling wheelies, but the mounting nubs will knock it back on its front wheels.
I don't need to tell you the Speed-T handles great offroad, since it is essentially an off road truck with street tires. Ok, now the fun part, pics!
