radio problems

i just got a new esc for my duratrax evader bx and my car wont work ,i use a duratrax 2 channel am reciever without a bec and a 8t dtx intellispeed esc please tell me what is wrong!!! i will add though i had it on my shelf for 4 months

plugs backwards, not in all the way? i hope it doesnt sound dumb, ive done it plenty of times and still do :D
