ok, sold my motorcycle :(:( but it was time. Good thing is it freed up some funds. I spent most of it responsibly of course, but decided to buy a new toy - Enter Redcat Racing..

Had to try it out....and for less than a stock slash! not too familiar with these guys, but read quite a few positive user reviews. I'm not sure if i am going to be very suprised or left with a bunch or pieces after the first run, but thought i'd give it a try. 4wd Corr truck with brushless? Some other manufacturers need to step up, this is exactly what i was looking for! Wheels have to go though. :)
now i have to make room for the 3rd corr truck...my slash, my 4wd slash under construction, and now this bad boy. Very addictive. I'll post up pics and a mini review once it arrives.

I would love an sc10... but Ive got to many projects going on inside my head:rolleyes: either a dark impact truggy or dark impact corr truck (I cant decide) either a corr micro-t or modified oval car shell(still cant decide) full rpm for my slash, 2.4 ghz system for all my 2channle cars, or new shell rims tires and ecs for my emaxx (the original evx is running really hot but the motors and batts are in good temps)
now that I have made my rant I would like to say sorry for thread jacking:o

speaking of, selling my Dark Impact to fund some of these projects....love the car, but I am tired of trying to jam my electronics in it. (HPI's Cyber is looking like a nice replacement if i bag the SC10) looking for bigger and more room! I know the feeling, more projects than i have time for!

That truck looks nice... but does anyone else see the resemblence in the body to the slash.
I wonder if you could use aftermarket bodies for the slash.

actually I think it is a slash body... it has all the same lines on it and in fact the same paint job...

Well, i didn't drive it yet, but i don't think it's coming to the top.....sorry. :) Got it last night, didn't have a chance to drive it yet since it's been raining for over a week here, but I figured i'd post some initial persepctives.
well, so far it's a mixed bag. The good is it looks like a 1/10 4wd buggy with a coor body slapped on - it's far smaller then the slash. The brushless system looks ok, and the plastic parts all look crisp and cleanly molded. Feels sturdy too. Lots of aluminum goodies - shock towers, threaded shocks, etc. Body looks sharp and the wheels look great. (though they do not match at and are coming off for use elsewhere) Radio has a lot of features too - EPA, dual rates, etc, though I'll yank it and use my old trusty Futaba.
and now for the bad: No oil in the shocks at all out of the box. None, zero, zip - doesn't look like it leaked, just bone dry. Will check them out tonight. Also, the small screws that hold the rear hingepins in were not installed. They did not just fall out, there are no thread marks whatsover, so nothing was ever installed and the truck came out of the box with the hubs and wheels flopping around. that is just plain inexcusable. Thankfully the hingepins never made it out of the box and i just have to find some small screws and install them. Third, the brushless ESC popped loose from it's tape and was flapping all over the place. Hoping it did not get damaged during shipping. Final issue, there's a ton of slop in the suspension parts. It seems like the holes for the front and rear hubs is larger than the actual hingepin so they are very losey-goosey. The rest of the suspension and steering seems ok though, it's just the hubs.
having my doubts, but charging up a battery and we'll see what happens.

OK, Redcat is in my good graces again. Fixed the hingepins, stuck the ESC on, left the shocks dry and took it out for a test spin. Pretty impressed, the brushless motor is pretty strong and with 4wd and light weight, it really hauls around. Drivetrain seems plenty strong, and nothing even scatched. Defintely needs tuning on the handling end though, but has potential.
here are some stock pics, you can see it's basicially a low slung 4wd buggy with a truck body on. planning a few easy mods........:D

Watch out for the drive pins on the alloy center driveshaft , they will loosen over time and fall out . I had a buddy with a Redcat Volcano EPX that did it and that looks like the same design .

it WAS cheap, lol - under $200 RTR with battery and charger included. Wasn't expecting caviar when I paid for a happy meal....:)
Be prepared to put some work into it though. At least the drivetrain (except the spur) is all metal. i not sure how the rest of the plastic will hold up though. So far so good.
