The slash is already a light truck, but trucks always lose weight. Time to swish cheese! Many may think this is stupid, and lessens the stength, but from drag raceing, punching holes in aluminum actualy strengthens it while loseing weight. I cut down 2oz with these, also trimming the body where the tires rub, make that rubbing go away, and loses liltle bits of weight. Every ounce counts on a "stock class" truck. (Not sure if mny tracks alow this mod, but mine doesn't say anything so I can) Only downside is more dirt allowed in. Swish-cheese!

Like I said, if the same concepts apply it should be just as strong, if not stronger. We'll have to wait and see, but my dad bashed it for 2 packs today, and I just hitted it withs a hammer... J/K:)

Trimming weight is always a good idea. There may be some upgrades out there that will free up a few ounces also. usually, those upgrades are leagal in a stock race as long as the track is somewhat leniant. Those upgrades would include things such as hollow steering and suspention adjustment links, lighter a arms, caster blocks, bearings(not lighter, but less drag), rims, axles, ect. Some things listed are not nesasarily lighter, but improves performance. My local dirt oval allows nothing changed on stock(break out) class. You must run everything that comes in the box, including esc, receivers, servos. The only thing you can change is crystals. The offroad track, wee, it is bring what you brung racing.

Phil, my not so local track anymore, is not box stock but a spec class.

Stock ESC, motor, servo, gearbox, drive shafts, a-arms, turn buckles, chassis, tire and wheels, shocks and springs, and the traxxas slash body.

Upgrades include: Bearings, F/R hubs, spectrum radio, Lipo cutoff (if runing lipo) and the aluminum steering linkage.

Battery: Up to 7 cell Nicad or Nmih, 2 cell A123 pack, 2 cell Lipo (5000 mah max)

I do realize that it says stock chassis, but the return email I got said, "lighting up the pig is legal, just don't take it too far"

not to knock you or anything, just thinking out loud, when the whole slash-class was introduced all the haters said this would happen. but id do the same thing if i got a slash. anyway it looks good!

quick question though, does your track have a mod and spec class for the slash, we do and ill tell ya what, it makes for good watching and alows ppl to bend the rules, in our mod class we keep stock motor and esc but allow any batt, servo and tire but spec class has a limit of 3300mah nimh or nicd with both allowing any body, radio, and plug

Thats how my Dad felt about the weight loss. How cares, all spec racing is pushed, but 2oz is hardly anything. I could or anyone pushing the rules running a 2s Lipo, could be smoked by a 6 yr/old running a not even broke in truck on a Nicad. Its still all the driver.

We have 3 classes. Spec, mod, and corr.

Mod is almost the same, but a modified motor can be added, better sterring servo, no rules on wheel and tire, none traxxas body, and different A-arms are allowed.

corr is basicly run whtcha brung. Brushlees, no limit on battery, chassis, etc.

My local offroad track is Nitro only. The other LHS runs an outdoor dirt oval and a indoor asphault tri oval. Problem is, no one runs a corr race around here other than people getting together on a practice day and having a "practice race". Everyone pretty much just runs nitro though and do not really care about electric.

I think for spec class it shouldnt be 100% stock but no mods to the chassie... I dont understand why they dont let you put stuph like RPM and allumium...I dont think with cars at this speed a few oz. make much of a difference I think that suspention parts should be open but electrics have to stay stock without lipo's... but thats me... then open can have anything added to the trucks like BL systems and tires (not buggy tires though... they should have to stay scale like with the proline epic beads and switch tires) lipo's and any chassie mods you like...

Im not dissing your idea I think if they give you the oportunity take it... thats the job of a "pit chief" to push the limits and bend rules

Yes nitro thats what I say. The spec can still bends the rules with the truck, but its all the driver. This will probaly do nothing preformence, heck I don't even race, but I just wanted to show a small mod that is free, and legal in my local tracks rule book.

And you never know 2oz on a 5lbs truck compared to a full size 4000lbs truck.
