Alright all you pro's out there....I'm still fairly new to this nitro thing and I've got a Jammin X1 truggie. My stock .28 is shot due to my error and I need to get a new engine. I've been talking a lot to the guys at the local hobbie shops and they all have different opinions on what the best is for this truggie. Some have said the HPI is great, some have said the Axial's are great. I'm not great at tuning so something fairly easy to tune would be great. I do plan on taking it to the track so if there is something middle of the line that is a good long lasting powerful engine yet isn't too high maintenance that would be great. Give me some opinions please! I'm not sure I trust the local shops because I think they may be a little biased based on brands they carry. Thanks so much!

The stock Force .28 is a great engine. All you need is a tuned pipe to get it more competitve. For that choice I'd still go with a Jammin Jp-3. In that case I have some Jammin X1 stuff I'll sell for cheap, like that pipe, aluminum chassie braces, etc.

I actually have the JP3 tuned pipe and that did help a lot in the performance. Thanks for the post. I guess I could go with another stock .28 ofna engine but was just wondering if there were any other ideas.

Oh, well other options are there. The Axail .28RR is good and how doesn't like the green? I saw a guy run with it the whole season. Wasn't the fastest, but was better than a Force .28. Only problem is the break-ins. Very tight.

if you are going to bash then by all means buy an axial but they are no good for the track might be better off spending a little more and buy a better motor. but i ran a ah .21 pro and it was an awesome motor so look online at the sh.28 motor cheap and very strudy motor was rated the best motor for mt and truggies

Get the Novarossi N21BF. Not huge top-end horsepower, but gobs of torque. Mated with your JP-3, you should have a pretty good power combo. Only $150 bucks on A-main Hobbies. I can't believe that A-Main has any of these left because they are the bomb...

I know next to nothing about nitro... but what about an O.S motor?

Great idea. I love that motor. Ran it in my Ravenger at one point.
Nitrobasher. O.S is a brand. Why is your name nitrobasher then? Just always wondered.

I know O.S is a company... but I didnt know what displacement he wanted... they have a killer .21
my name is nitrobasher because when I first started on the rcd forums I used to drive my nitro truck alot... then it stoped starting (just figured it out the other day... the cooling head was lose and now I need glow plugs and fuel)

Thanks everyone for all your input. I really appreciate it and after a lot of discussions with experienced people in the hobbie, I decided to go with the O.S. 30VG P ES. It has gotten great reviews and it just happened my local shop had one in stock so I couldn't resist. Now I just have to break it in....as a newbie, this should be interesting. Any good u tube videos that are good methods?

first thing you do, take the glow plug off, and put 2 drops of after run oil in the chamber.

im currently running a werks b7 pro in my rc8t. this is an excellent engine with a good powerband and gets great fuel mileage on the track.
my backup motors are an rb concept c6bb and a picco evo2 p7r.
you cant go wrong with an os engine as well. ive also heard good reviews about the new reedy nitro motors.

use a hair dryer to get the head as hot as you can before you try to turn it over. do that for the first five or even six tanks. and always try to make sure the piston is at the bottom of the cylinder, doing that will help the motor last alot longer. And yes, the O.S .30 is a powerhouse of a motor, too much power if you ask me, but still an awesome choice, the .21 v-spec is a great motor for truggy as well.
