So I finally got a pinion gear, and I am in the process of constructing a battery cover. Now for the body. I was ready to scrap this one, but it restored my faith that Tamiya could build some cool stuph. I really like this little buggy, a bit stiff riding and drifts uncontrollably on asphault with stock rubber, but looks sic as all git out. I will keep her around a little while and I may even completly restore or even replace it when it is toast. I am not giving it a break, I am running it as hard as the pede and rusty. She is fragile in her old age, but broken bones do mend. Here is a few shots of her after a mud bath, and pede/rusty style jumps. Damage is severe, but easily fixed, took like 10 minutes to repair her after 1 hour of torture. 5204

I poped a whole lot more than that. 3 shocks were needing repair, front tire, and I was missing bolts/screws afterwards. Shes not meant for the big air jumps like the rusty and pede, but she sure is fun. On a side note, those rear treads throw off the weight bad in jumps. It is very very back heavy. I can manipulate it a little with the brakes, butfor the most part, it lands on the rears almost vertical. It trys to pull the front wheels in grass upon acceloration. It is very unstable in the straight, (has a lot of bounce from those tires.). And that big ol 550 motor is rubbing the rear shock at all times. I am thinking of installing a 27 T revenge of the monster motor for torque and putting that 550 in the rusty for a few runs. It is a stout motor. I found out my company man also has a hornet. All stock, and it still runs. I will be trying to race him around the locations once I get mine all squared away. I am also contemplating on shelling this hornet and building a tvp chassis with better suspention on the front. I was thinking of using the tranny/axle assembly but the more I think about it, I believe I should just build something different and leave this alone for nastalgia reasons.

taking a second look I see all those parts torn apart... Id say put smaller tires back on and run it more along the lines of stock... then makes a whole new car for bashing

Yeah, but those big beafy ones are knarley to look at on this little guy tho. Stock is boring, and those stock treads don't have ANY grip in the turns. It just slides around on me unless I slow to a crawl.

did a little driving around with this little guy the other day. I tryed out both the big knarley tires and the stockers. I got more top end (and rear hop) with the big treads. More acceloration with the stockers, even though I did a ton of spinning. I had a 4500 mah battery zip tied in, so it had a ton of power. Somewhere along the way in my torture runs, I busted something in the tranny. It will still turn the wheels if I hold the rear up, but will not do much pulling, not even enough to take off if the tires are on the ground. I can push it, and it will pull enough to somewhat keep it going for a short distance. I am unsure if I want to buy a wheely king and light this on fire and "crush" the hornet or maybe try to rebuild. I think I will scrap this one. I ain't out much on it, like under 40 bucks, so it won't hurt my felling to torch it. but then I will not have anything to put the big tires on. If anyone has something they will fit on, I will give the big rear tires away, with the adapters. if anyone needs any parts, (exept the electronics), hit me up. Send me shipping money, and the parts are yours. There are a few good items on here, rear shocks do not go however. Pinion gear (new undamaged) axles, some gears, front suspention, heck, you may even find a use for the chassis tub. Come on guys, anyone want any of the parts?
