A few months ago, I got a free XL-1 stampede from my neighbor, completely stock. I was looking at it today, and I figured I would do something a little different than what most people would do to their Stampede. So I decided I would start my first RC project and give my Stampede a solid rear axle with 4 link suspension.

Here's how far I got today:

I locked the a-arms in place using the stock pushrods off of my REVO.

I got a little more together, but I think I might buy the chassis from an Axial Scorpion, cut the back half off of each plate, screw those plates onto the rear of the Stampede Chassis, and then use the mounting holes from the Axial chassis.

I'll post updates as I go along. :)

I figured that I could use the chassis plates off of an Axial Scorpion to mount the links to so that I got the geometry right. I pulled the plates off of my Axial to try it and it worked really good!

The wheelbase is a little long, so when I get another Axial chassis that I can use just for this, I'll mount the plates further forward on the chassis. :)

I just got a little bit more work done on it. The lower links were hitting the chassis, so I had to trim the chassis a little. And then I also moved the plates a little further forward onto the Stampede chassis.

interesting project!! looks like a 1/8 size almost - How does it drive?

1 thing i would suggest is see if you can find a way to move the battery back as far as possible. The more weight you can get on the back axle, the better it will perform overall.
