Hey i have a question,
Okay heres the deal, my rustler xl5 is broke right now and the problem seems to be the transmission... It only goes 5mph with a fully charged 6 cell that works and after running at 5mph for like 15sec. the left tire stops moving all together... so would my best bet be to go to ebay and buy a new one or try to fix a transmission that always breaks down regularly? And after its fixed to sell it with 2 batteries for stock price or a little under?

I would like to buy a crawler, or a slash, or a mini. im just unsure...

lets see, first you gotta take apart the tranny to see what is haunting it. my guess is the diff.
if all the gears, bearings and stuff is junk, it may be cheaper to get a new tranny.
if your selling it, $130-160 (with batterys). depending on the rest of the trucks condition, and type of batts.

I have taken apart the tranny more times than anyone needs to and a tranny is only like $30 dollars with steel gears and everything and i just think that would be the route because i bought a new diff and it didn't help...because that was my guess and its not the slipper clutch neither.

The truck was used decently it needs a new body but other than the transmission it runs fine..

did you check the bearings? that could be your main problem

If one of the tires stops moving, then it could be your wheel hex. If the hex is stripped, then it won't catch on to the rim and then it will just spin. :)

i checked the the bearings their fine.
oh and it wouldn't be the wheel hex because the shaft that comes from the tranny stops spinning and the other wheel is still moving slowly...
and road runner i looked they haven't had any lately on ebay that i could find but they have them off and on..

I would check the hex's anyway... because if one is dead it will move before the other one that is still in working condishon(spelled that wrong)... that will cause the diff to slip but it may still work enough to push the car

i will check that, but how do i go about checking as ive not had this problem before.

just pull off the wheel hex's and if they are striped get new ones... thats pretty much all you can do...
