i dont run lipos. i dont really care for lipos(because of the cost and fire hazzard) but my slash broke and my friend let me borrow his slash for the amain(lipo5000pack). my truck runs of a 3000 pack and is the easyest thing to drive. his truck was like having a 800hp dragcar with street tires and trying to put down a straight pass. is this the mah. difference or the lipo batterie itself

Lipos are lighter and the burst off a 2S lipo is much more than a Nimh pack will put out. Even if the volts are compared to a 7 cell Nimh (8.4) the 2s Lipo (7.4) is faster because the burst. Mah has little effect on power only on runtime.

yes, think of it this way: a lipo puts out more power in a given time, think about a garden hose (nimh) and a fire hose (lipo)....the lipo is like the fire hose in that it lets more juice flow to the motor.

my 7.4v lipos completly dust even my 8.4v nimh packs.

Sorry to thread jack, but while we are on the subject of figuring out lipos, what is the 20c, 30c ect. mean? I know the "S" means cells basically, but the "c" throws me. What else should us cavemen know about lipos in the event we would like to try them out?

20C and 30C are the burst of the pack. Usaly higher has more accleration, and just a liltle more top end.

20C or 30C simply mean the maximum rate of sustained / continuous discharge.
20C for a 5000mAh = 20 x 5A = 100A
20C for a 2000mAh = 20 x 2A = 40A
30C for a 6000mAh = WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = 30 X 6A = 180A
The latest batteries also give 2 ratings, hence why I stated continuous. Some state, e.g. 20C / 35C. This means that the battery can sustain a continuous discharge up until it's discharged and requires charging of 20 x capacity. If it's a 5000mAh = 20 x 5A = 100A, but ALSO for a LIMITED TIME it can also discharge at 35 x 5A = 175A.
Liken it to 155mph speed-limited cars - for a short time, if they're powerful enough but still have the limiter, it permits up to perhaps 165-170mph then brings you down to 155mph again (until you get pulled over !! :D ...
