Okay heres a quick one to start off...
If i want to use these rims...
http://www.rcplanet.com/HPI_Scorch_6_Spoke_Whl_Blk_Chr_2_p/hpi3089.htm
...With these tires...
http://www.rcplanet.com/Pro_Line_s_MOAB_M3_2_2_Truck_Tire_p/pro112002.htm
...are they compatible with one another?
and if so, do i need to do to convert my 2.8 tires, (mainly the hexes) to run these rims? I know proline has some adapters.
Any help is greatly appriaciated...

Oh and, (I'm pretty sure its Greg) thanks for the handy storage/worktable it makes it so much easier.
Another thing does anybody know of a relatively decent yet low-cost easy-installation lights for my new dodge body?
Oh yeah this is for a xl-5 rustler...:D

they will work, if the rim has a 12mm hex (which your model does) than yeah it will be fine.
if however the rim uses a pin istead than just take the hex off the axle and it should slide on. i doubt that though since most crawlers i know use a 12mm hex
bdw those are wicked rims
as far as lights, what some ppl do is attach all the LEDs and the wiring etc than shoe goe onto the body a batt holder for either a 9v alk or a reciever batt holder. their are also kits availible to do up your whole car which are made for tc's but can be adapted to a truck
cjeck out yeah racing through rcmart, they sell alot of LED systems

awesome roadrunner and fiero man...ill look into them...
oh ive changed my mind on tires and rims....
i love the last combo but was on proline and saw their 30 series rims and 30 series badlands....:o I like their stance on my truck alot better...
heres some links...
rims...

tires...

ya those tires are awsome... Im gunna get some monster ones for my emaxx... badlands get amazing grip on grass and are very universal
Taylor

Exactly.... :D I love how they look too..
My whole front yard is grass and its thick, my ditches, which are fun to jump out of and wheelie through, are a mix of dirt and grass. We have a whole lot of roots and my driveway is all rock, but soon some of it will be concrete . I have gardens too, with dirt at the end just wishin it would be used...:D
Oh and for lights, have any of you heard of www.rclightskits.com?
RCUniverse reviewed the deluxe set which is $94, but im pick up some more on the side jobs so i'll have some extra cash... and i will be ordering some extras, 4 3mm yellow lights, and red neon... Which will cost about $115...So for the whole light kit the deluxe and the extras it will be $115...
My rustler is gonna be pimp!!!:D (And WaterProof, but im going to use an old body so my dodge one with the lights won't get all fried..., the lights are for show to relatives and friends...)
I'll probably order another one of those dodge bodies if i like them cause my stock one won't even hook to the back body post because there's like a black hole right there from crashes...:o
By the time i pay for everything and pay for my full size truck i'll be broke...:(
Ah well it'll be worth since im all out customizing for the first time...
What do you all think about the RCMonster Complete aluminum chassis for my rustler? mine is starting to crack and when i get bl in there, now you see it now you don't, it'll probably blow up or something...:D
Maxx man

I would go with a fast lane machine chassis heres a linkhttp://fastlanemachine.com/PublicPortal/ElectricProducts/Rustler/tabid/58/Default.aspx
its down on the page a bit so just scroll down some they also have an extended chassis that you may want to look at
Taylor
07-13-2009, 02:16 PM
Thats the one i'm talking about they have it on RC Monster too, the entire deal, a-arms, upper Chassis, Lower Chassis, etc., etc.,:D

my opinion with aluminum chassis, keep stuff thats going to fail like a-arms, towers, and mounts plastic (rpm is your best bet)
as far as leds, id watch it if you plan on getting wet, they may be so simple that water may not affect um (kinda like outdoor low voltage lighting) but they may still be affected by water. if it were me, id run a body w/ out leds (or no body at all) when you are going puddle jumping
Taylor
07-13-2009, 10:41 PM
like i said my first dodge body will have lights and be for show..
i will probably get another one with out lights to puddle jump, ive take that stuff into consideration i would absolutely love to get the rc light kit version but my best bet to try out lights to see if i like them will just be head lights and tail light with a y-harness to connect it to my reciever or a 9volt...

UUUUGGGGHHH!
I took apart my entire transmission this morning and I took apart the diff and and inside everything seems to be in order.
But could there be something wrong with it because, The shafts coming out of the transmission, which are connected to the diff, they spin in opposite directions so easily. Like its to loose inside, Does that mean i need more Grease inside because its basically empty, and if i want to lock it, can i, and would there be any benifits or drawbacks...
The bold and underlined part is what i think is wrong cause when i changed the diff out and put a new one in i had to put quite a bit of grease in it.
Thanks for any and all help,
Taylor

I do know that the diff's on the rusty and other traxxas cars are very light and you may want to upgrade to an oil filled diff if you want super performance otherwise you can put a heavy grease in it... and locking the diff will give you better traction on a rough terrain and better traction in things like sand and such... the only thing about that is the traxxas sliders can be kinda weak and may break using a locked diff

I'd fill it about 1/2 full with 100,000 wt oil in it.

a thick automotive grese will work but really for the best steering radius leave the stock grease in
Taylor
07-14-2009, 10:58 PM
well i about noon i filled it with some preety thick automotive grease about half full, and i put it all back together and it went at first and then sputtered and stopped. I knew it wasn't the transmission cause i triple checked with the manual on how it went together. Well i took the motor off and hooked it straight to the battery to see if it was the problem(its stock), Well it didn't budge. Luckily i Had another motor that broke but i rebuilt and when i hooked it straight to the battery it ran like new(also stock), The battery was charged and i knew worked. but when i hooked it all together, the front wheels turned left and right, but the rear didn't budge... It was the ESC...
So it looks like i'll be prematuraly ordering that waterproof velineon system...:D And hopefully my dad will pitch in, because he hasn't paid a cent of my rc expenses, and it would really help if he would cause i could get it right away...
Fiero_Man_121
07-15-2009, 05:22 AM
maybe or maybe not the esc, the motor still could have been shot but yeah bl for sure, although unless you plan on doing alot of puddle hoping id get a better system, best would be either a vxl motor with m.m. or s.w. speedo or a cc4600 or cc5700 motor

well i would, but you would have to solder those and i don't have a soldering iron nor do i know how to use one. i know how to do some basic welding but i've never been taught on how to solder...:(
