ok, im aquiring about an hpi nitro sedan model, it is a 1/10 scale, on of the older models i believe. it has a belt driven 4wd set up, the cooling head on the engine is actually kind of square. i know its an hpi, it kinda looks like an older model of the rs4. can anyone help me and post pics of this model or tell me the actual name of it to make sure i can get parts before i buy the car? thank you.

Asuming it's a HPI nitro RS4 or RS42 - triple belt drive, 1/10 touring sedan. I had one back in the day - decent car with a few hop ups. There are hundreds of them on Ebay, and they usually go for cheap so you could pick up a second and use it for parts easily. Parts can be found simply as they were very popular and HPI produced them for a long time.

thats it, thank you so much. so the exact model is the HPI Nitro RS42, or what? and do you know whats the body size? 190 or 200mm? does it matter? and also, can i put a newer engine out of a newer rs4, i really like the star g3.0 motor which is also in my firestorm.

yes, Nitro RS4 2, believe it is 200mm though i'm not 100% but most nitros are, and any .12-.15 motor should fit. It will fly with a g3.0!!

thats what im hoping, and im hoping that it will line up with the current engine mounts so i wont have to buy new ones, lol, the motor is a little old style and i love the g3.0 nitro star engine, might even go with a traxxas 3.3 motor if i can find one pretty cheap. i was going to upgrade my firestorm with a 3.3 but couldnt find one at the time. oh, another question, whats the retail for one of these in good condition(the car, not the motor)??? im paying 50 bucks for the car, glow igniter and radio, but i dont want to invest more than the car is worth.
EDIT: i found this engine on ebay, 2 engines actually, looking good so far so im watching them

Depends on the condition of the car and the number of hop-ups it has, anywhere from $40-$150. $50 for the whole package is a great deal.
Either of those motors will drop right on, looks like they are both barrel carbs, so the linkages should bolt up with no mods. Only thing that might give you grief is those engines have different cranks, you might have to do some tweaking on the clutch side to make it fit.

so the car is only worth up to 140 bucks? thats realyl bad. my firestorm is only about 240 new.

Good and bad...they have been out of production for a while and are not especially rare, so the resale on a decent one is not that high since there are so many out there (kinda like maxxes and savages - everybody's got one). I'm just throwing out a range based off what I have seen, if it is way hopped up and has a nice shell on it, i'm sure you could get a good price for it. The good part is parts and replacements are fairly cheap. If you're looking at it as a runner, they are good cars - if you are looking at it as an investment, not so much.

oh, i dont plan on selling it anytime soon, im going to pick it up today so pis will be up tomarrow night when i get home, but yeh, it was decent, the shell aint that great but the cars is alright, i may have to put a new pull starter in it and clean the motor up real good, but i really want to put a newer, faster, better motor in it like the nitro star g3.0 or t3.0, im not sure which. i dont like the roto starts either, i like the pull starter, they are just a big pain in the ass sometimes.

i had an rs4 for a few weeks, they are pretty simple to work on but just a heads up, the belt pullys run on bushings, trx 5x11 bbs will drop right in.
what i did to mine was convert it to electric then i put some rally tires on it one day at the track and ran the oval (very fun) wound up killing the 27t brushed motor i was using, got rid of it though:( wasnt my cup of tea
