Decided to fix up and rebuild my tamiya touring fleet. I have quite a few that I've aquired along the way, and a few more just came in. Going through bodies, wheels, spare parts and what not and rebuilding them to at least shelf status, if not full runner status. Just getting things together here, most still need to be cleaned up and finished up.
Left to Right:
TB02, new not yet run. Fully hopped up, and though the wheels are on another chassis in these pics, this is my drifter.
FF01 - I've had this car since ....94? Just recently started rebuilding it. Tamiya'a best handling FWD car imo. This will see a run or two for old times sake, be mostly will be a shelf queen.
TA03R - just picked this up from EBay as a mostly roller, and used some parts from my wrecked TA03F to finish it up. This will be a runner, and will just be for onroad fun. 17t motor, and quite a few hop-ups, though most are in the driveline and not really visible.
TT01 - just got this in a trade from Phil, this will most defintely be a runner. Needs a bit of TLC and have some parts on order. This is going to rally duty as i have tons of spares for it. Let the beating begin!
M02/3/4 - my miata, will be a shelf queen, just have to put it together. may take it out for a run or two but will take it very easy.

Not shown:
NIB TB01 - traded away a spare XC chassis for it, coming Monday
TA01/2 touring chassis that I forgot to put in the mix (it's in the background of the first pic)
Fairly hopped up TL01 that's still fully in parts. Waiting for the TB to come to figure out a few things as far as parts compatability.
As I get these finished up, I'll post pics of them completed. Going through all my bodies and figuring out what fits best where.

Very nice! Reminds me of my Tamiya fleet: my daughter's TB02, my son's TT-01, my first car (a TL01-LA), my F103GT, a TA04 SS, and the TB Evo IV.

Nice collection!
I forgot all about my F103GT, I guess that fits in here also. Got the TB01 this week too, pretty cool car. I'll have to get an updated picture, I got a ton of work done on the TT01.

First one rebuilt: TT01! Got it in a trade and it needed a part or two replaced. Kinda disappointed with this chassis - not up to Tamiya's usual quality imo. Hop ups are fairly cheap for this chassis if you shop around, so picked up some aluminum goodies to address some of the sloppy areas and replace the broken parts. Rebuilt from the ground up with fresh gears and chassis, it's basically a new car. Added Tamiya oil shocks, full universals, metal outdrives, aluminum prop shaft, carbon upper deck (sorely needed) and GPM steering kit. Coming along well! Picked up a new Subaru bodyshell with light kit for it, just have to bust out the paint brush and glue the tires. Got a few more in progess, more pics to come.

Number 2 to come out of the rebuild shop - TA03R. Mostly stock except for turnbuckles, fromt 1-way, and ball diffs front and rear. 17t motor, going to be a fun runner. I've had the Supra body since the dawn of time, have to do some touch up on some of the decals, but picked up some HPI wheels (look awesome) in the proper offsets to match the body and I think this is win.
Oh, and yes - i have cut the body posts.

Very nice chassis!!
It makes me think about my old TT-01 drifter. I havent run it since 2007. I should get it back in shape and make it run again.
Still have the mamba 7700 brushless system in it. Got to get new batteries. My old Nicd wont work anymore.
My old charger wont charger lipo. I was considering getting a new charger but don't know which one. Maybe the 1030 or ice??
Thansk for sharing the pics

Still slowly tinkering with the Tamiya fleet as the winter goes on. The goal is to have them done by spring.
Here's a new addition: picked up this TA03F for $31! Came as shown with the yellow medium springs and the rear swaybar. Stripped it down for a rebuild to at least stock running condition.
As it came, and the parts from my old '03F chassis that came to a bad end with a curb. Pretty decent shape except it took a hard hit in the front - thankfully I had enough spare parts left over on my old chassis to make it work.

Once the front was in one piece, I checked all the gears, lubed everything up and fixed the shocks. This kit was built using parts that were twisted from the parts trees (I HATE that!! Major pet peeve) and the shock pistons needed trimming to work smoothly. Fixed them up and everything is smooth and fairly slop free. Car was otherwise in great shape. Put in stock running gear for now. Plans are for a light runner.

I did a bit of a swap - I put the wheels and supra body from my 03R on the 03F...figured the front engine chassis fit the front motor body better. I have an unpainted NSX body then for the 03R, fits the mid motor set-up better. :)

Out of all the tourers I've had, i like the TA03's the best for some reason. Just a very cool design that handles very well.

sure, let me see what I can do. On road is fun, I don't drive much on road anymore since I live out in the sticks but it is fun to find a big wide parking lot and just have at it.
Rally cars are fun, any car can be set up for rally really, nothing special to them. Raise the suspension a bit and put on rally tires - done. Just recommend shaft drive, belts just don't work well for off road use imo.

I have seen a few tc4s rallyized. They seem to perform well. I am unsure as to why rally cars never really took off, seems like they would be loads of fun.

I wonder the same thing phil. U can basicly have them set up as 3 different vehicles with minimal changes in tires, suspension, and body then bam! U have rally, drift, or race. The only thing im worried about for a rally platform is durability, but so far the tt01 and tc3 have interested me

I had a TC3 with the rally conversion from AE. Took it from 190mm to 200 mm and included longer shock shafts and new springs. Think there are pics here somewhere, but I had put on-road wheels on it by then.
Eh.....didn't work well in the dirt - handled fine and all, but the exposed spur and pinion chewed up quick when running. You really want a sealed drivetrain. I've run a modded TL01 and it worked perfect. A TT would work as well.
No idea why rally is not as popular over here. Small course with some small jumps and hairpins would be a blast. I usually run on baseball diamonds as it's the perfect rally surface.

A Associated TC 4 is remarkably durable. It is the ONLY RC I have ever owned that did not break. I jumped it, crashed it, wreaked utter havoc on the old goat, and only broke a rim or 2. For me, that is saying alot. I ran it in gravel, grass, dirt, and asphault, never any mud though. It did very well, and I did not have any of the spur issues oldschool was talking about. I sold the car with all original parts exept new tires/wheels. I owned it for 2+ years, and was basically my daily driver.

Wow sounds like a hell of a car! Any idea what the price on a used one is? Pics wud be great too! Also, id be looking for a realistic rally body, with lights if possible. If anyone knows of places to get rally bodys with light buckets and/or light kits please lemme know. Thamks!

Here is a link to some pics I posted up on here, not sure if I have the pics with the Dodge nascar body or not, but I know the stock silver body is pictured along with under the lid shots, just weed through the rest of it till you find the spot on the tc4, easy to see http://rcdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1447 I have not seen a used one yet, and have been looking here and there. The LHS has one for around 250.00. Well worth the money IMO Sorry to thread jack OS
