i lost a kingpin to my tamiya mini cooper M03 chassis. the 4x11.5 step screws seem to be had to find. so im looking for an easier to find alternative. iv been told that a TA04 kingpin will work as a direct replacement but idk what size they are, so idk. anyone have info on that? the M01 and M02 chassis used 4x10's will those fit? or will the 4x12's from the Toyota Land Cruiser fit? i know there are light weight king pin hop ups, but im not really interested in those do to price.

Tamiya has 2 basic kingpins on their older kits, the black ones and the silver ones (and a few odds and ends here and there for oddball kits) The 4x10's are the black ones and the 4x12's are the silver ones. 4x12 will work, but they are taller and stick up out of the hubs somewhat. won't hurt performance and is fine with a 1.9 wheel, but might rub a 1.5 mini wheel. Stick with the stockers.

TA04's will NOT fit. They are slightly narrower in circumference, and are used on the TL wide arm suspension kit, TA04, 05 and TLT trucks, and the newer m05 kits i believe.

The ones from the land cruiser CC01 kit: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGG84&P=Z are what you are looking for.

so what's the difference between those and the 4x11.5 that (according to the instructions) the kit comes with? the length of the threaded part? im counting like one less thread. is that it?

btw thanks for the help, iv been looking for that into sense February

NP dude, glad to help though I am completely utterly wrong.

I have an M01 (with the horizontal shocks) and mine uses 4x10. I assumed your Mini was on the same chassis and the M03 was just a longer version. I'm completely wrong, the M01 and 02 are simliar, but the 03 is a totally different chassis - I believe you have 4 shocks on yours, and the servo is mounted above the gearbox. If that's the one, then you DO need the 4x11.5.

Rule of thumb: if you kit came with silver kingpins, they are 4x11.5 (they are taller on the stepped area, the threads are the same length) If they are black, they are 4x10.

Sorry to steer you wrong!! Hope you didn't buy any parts based on my bad advice. If you did, they will work, just need a little tweaking.

i have found 4x10 and 4x12. both black.
