As a brand newby to this sport , I've been bombarded with talk about 12,13,17,etc. turn motors and can't seem to get a definate answer as to the differences between them . Can any one here help ?
The ESC's in my cars can take 13 turn and up motors and I'm now running 540 and 580 motors ( I have no idea just what 540 and 580 means)
I've been told that switching to a 17 turn motor will increase my overall speed and I'm still at odds as to which way to go !
Thanks ,
Doug

The difference is the number of "wraps" each armature segment has with the fewer number of "turns" making more power or rpm. A lower turn motor will pull more current from battery thru esc and is why the esc is limnited to XX number of turns Or more.

The 540 and 550 number has to do with can diameter and length and a motor with lower turns will increase your overall speed (top speed) In otherwords a 13 turn motor will be faster than a 17 turn motor.

Thanks for that hoober , that's about what I expected but it's good to have it confirmed .
