discovered this one last night: use dry-erase markers on the outside of your body to mark whatever you think would be cool, and if it doesnt look good, use a kleenix to remove it. if it sits for awhile, using water or something should help.

Use dry erase all the time to mark out paint lines and stuff. Works well!

I've discovered a black sharpie is a must for detailing after paint as well. Have 2, each with 2 tips for 4 tip sizes to work with. Single best thing I've ever picked up for working on bodies.
