How does one mount drift tires on the rims without destroying the tire sidewall and/or the rim.

Got some new different style rims and HPI Drift tires. The instructions state to warm the tires up to make them easier to put on but that doesn't help.
I've almost destroyed the sidewall of one the tires and nicked some of the chrome off of one the new wheels. HELP!

The first two sets of tires and rims I've purchased were already mounted but I wanted a better selection of rim styles so this is my first stab at this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.:D

How did you heat them up? I heat up each tire with a hair dryer for about 30 to 60 seconds; circling the hair dryer around the tire while on its side and flipping it over halfway. They go on pretty easily after that. Be careful though, because the tires do get pretty hot.

I also know some people who microwave a cup of water and drop the tires in for a few seconds after to heat them up, but I haven't tried this method before.

Also, are the tires treaded or slick? The treaded HPI T-Drifts can be a pain to mount even after heating them up.

Hope this helps.
