well ive got a few original trx stick radios and the updated version of the same radio, found in the older model blast. only the newer one works, the other 2 dont would not power up and after a bit of trial and error i came to the conclusion that the tabs were the issue, they were covered in battery acid, didnt think that it was a problem till i did the mentioned t&e
well first step was taking the the tabs out of the radio. did this by first loosening them out

then pushing them slightly more with a sloted driver

finaly, pulled it out the rest of the way with plyers

so after i got them pulled out i was looking around at what to clean them with short of going at them with the dremal which would destroy the underlying crome finish. found some oxyclean and tried it on one and with a bit of scrubbing from a stiff nylon brush it took the crap off. then i ramped it up and dumped in all the messed up ones in a plastic cup

toppoed it off with warm water annd now im going to let it sit over night.
