trash trailer racing

the club i race with is always trying to do crazy things most the brain children of the club president. so now he and his brother (both cabinet makers) decided we should hae a trailer class, its an open class, any motor, batt, 2wd 1/10th chassis. the idea is to use these wooden trailers with wooden wheels and jazz them up, run them and the point is too keep as much stuff on and still have the trailer atached at the end of the race. but theres also another part to it, a concourse (sp?) contest for the most scale/best looking trailer. the junk that falls off stays on the track

of course i already have an idea, going to lighten the frame, put a bit of weight on the left side and rock the vintage trx theme, im thinking spare fiero body and tires to make a faux-fiero race trailer, black frame, scale wheels, best of all its going to be a great way to get some time to hang with my master-carpenter dad since im going to recruit him to help me alter the wood frame. will be pulling it with the srt bdw.

im going to get pics up later and will try to get a video and pics when we race um

i may not use the fiero and jump for something really stange if i can find something that really works

imagine the frame black and hollowed out with the cage material stapled into place, the box and tires glued/ nailed down and a faux-fiero over the cage material

was rumaging through my bin of toys and crap and found this, bar pool anyone? make a mini bar stool and bar on the left side for the weight i mentioned. use some black and white "tile" or checker board for a floor, glue all the peices to the trailer and pool table

my other idea was to make a trailer that looked like the one we had at work with the rainbow cleaning international of boca on the sides, itd be really easy and would look sick, still have my work shirts so i could pull it off for sure (im betting id have to take a few jokes for the look though)

pulled out my daddy and his bosch saw and we cut it out. im sticking to my bread and butter, vintage traxxas. so im going with the fiero theme

anyway the race is this week and the club forum has been a flurry of trashtalk and bragging the track was just as bad this weekend. everyone had there trailers half way done sitting around swapping smack talk and ideas. we decided were going to allow reverse:eek: the logic being, if you ccan back up a 2wd truck with a trailer you should in theory be able to win

pics of mine, still need to make ramps on the back and im still debating about the spare tires up front. everything is either screwed down or zip tied down with over kill ties. i have weights on the bottom left of the trailer to stop it flipping as much

wheels are crappy but they are going to get trashed so im not worried, and when were done with them im going to put bandit fronts on it instead

Dude! What happened to the trailer race? I saw the trailers when they were being announced, and it looked like the guys at the track were getting ready to race them, but no trailer race on video? I was looking forward to seeing it too.
