Curious about sealing the hatch. Does it get enough air to run?

You're right, the hatch doesn't allow a lot of any real air under and through it so holes would have to be cut in it.
A friend bought one recently and against my better judgement got it anyway. She (yes, she) had nothing but problems with the whole boat, most notably found a piece of something under the cooling cap that blocked the flow of water exiting the head cooking the Zenoah. I really can't throw that blame on Pro Boat as they didn't build the motor but that was the first of many problems that she encountered with it. The boat is now gone.
