Venom is proud to introduce its new LiFe-Power line of LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) receiver and hard case batteries. They offer many advantages over their Lipoly counterparts including 4X the useable cycles (1000+ cycles, no low voltage cutoff and higher charge rates. As a receiver battery, there is no need for a regulator due to the lower nominal voltage compared to a Lipoly. The hard case packs are perfect for most 1/10th scale vehicles. 1/12th scale racers will love the 3600mah single cell hard case for its power and lightweight.

Are these better than LiPo's? Are they only used for electronics power, or can they run a brushless Revo? How are they as far as charging/discharging, better/similar/worse than lipo?

Askin alot huh, lol.

basically, they are ALOT safer the lipo's as they dont go boom like a lipo will when it drops in voltage, but they only put out 3.3 volts a cell so youre trucks arent going to have the same speed/power ect. but they also charge ALOT faster, you can charge em at like 15amps or somethin crazy like that. they can run a brushless revo but they wont perform as well as your standerd lipo.

About the same or better than a NiMH 7 cell 4000+mah? Cause if I can get those kind of results and save weight and/or money then sign me up. It sounds like the life span is far greater than that of a NiMH and I would think it would be much lighter. It also appears to be the cheaper route to go.

they also seem about the same price as venom's NIMHs...

well so far the jury says venom lipos are pretty darn good (despite the horrid rep of their Ni cells) so im hoping these are the same

the biggest thing with life packs is voltage, with lipo the voltages are around the same so its easier to transition so if you showd up with a 6.6v life and friend shows up with a 6c nimh well than he's already got a leg up (although you could always argue tourtose/hair situation) which is also why ppl are not racing with them in spec or limited classes (although in an open, lets say, stadium truck class a 9.9 might be an advantage which brings me to my other point down nya \/

life packs are nice in 3 cell config, since it gives you a nice in between of a 3 cell lipo and a 2 cell lipo (11.1, 9.9 7.4)

i think these will catch on in the basher market but outside of that, unless the industry and hobby as a whole makes a huge turn i dont see them taking off. (althugh the same sorts of comments were said about many things in rc we take for granted now)

anyway, sweet more life packs to get the market flowing

Well, I guess one could argue that in a basher friendly inviroment, 2 of the 6 volts in a series would work somewhat okay in a e revo. But could you run a 9 volt and 6 volt in a series to get up to 15 volts to run with the stock revo 16.8 esc? Not sure how well that would work. Though running a 9.9 volt on a brushless esc or I think a xl-10 and xl5 can handle 9.6 volts. Not sure if that would work either plus it is a low mah.
I guess where it would be the most benificail is on one of those wedge bodied cars that generally run on 4-6 cell nimh.

15131 30C 2600mah 9.9V Hardcase LiFe Battery $49.99

not a bad price, might have to pick one up and try it out. mah is little low though.

Yeah, that was my concern. Low Mah, good voltage, good price. Weighing the good and bad. May work for bashing tho.

looks like they are aimed mainly towards rx and tx use then actual fully powering a vehicle
