Ok, I've got a soldier's Emaxx here in the "shop". I've downloaded the exploded views but thanks to my internet here, I'm having trouble downloading the owner's manual. So I have some troubleshooting questions.
When he gave me the truck, he asked me to tear it down and see what needed to be fixed other than the obvious broken CVD. I asked him if it had any problems. He reported a "clicking" noise. I tore apart the transmission and it appears fine. I also tore into the front diff. It's one of the weirdest looking diffs I've ever seen. The gear mess looks "alright" but noisy. What kind of lube should it have? I think that would take care of the noise.
Also, I think he could use some shocks. What do you prefer for best bang for bucks with shocks? The truck was heavily modded when he bought it. Has RPM arms, shock towers, lunsford turnbuckles, and CVDs in the rear. Oh, and it has a Novak brushless system in it. But I don't know how much he wants to spend for shocks and further upgrades. Advice would be greatly appreciated!

PS-the front diff must have put in backwards or something cause I just threw some batteries in the thing and the wheels are going in opposite directions!

Ok, update. Got a copy of the owner's manual but that didn't help at all. Found the cause of all the problems. Someone took out the rear end in this truck and replaced the diff with a solid unit. With the brushless, that explains the broken CVD. Then when they reinstalled everything, they put the rear end in upside down. I put it all together with stock drives in the rear and it's fast! But snapped the Traxxas plastic drives...here's another question...Should the solid unit go up front? Should I stick with stock diffs all around? I would like to get this truck fixed because I might be changing bases in about a month! I need your advice!

With the Novak Brushless sytem in the truck. You need to upgrade all the internal gear components to steel.
On the novak web site it makes recommendations as the upgrades you need to make the truck stout enough to withstand the power of the NOVAK HV max system.
A Robinson Racing slipper system is a must.

Thanks, I've showed it to the guy. I've found a parts truck out here that the SGT Major had. I stripped the CVDs and rear gearbox out. Then also a nice servo. Got the guy's truck up and running. Then after looking at the mess of the parts truck, the stupid words came out. "I want an EMAXX!" So now I've got a pile of crap here. So new questions!

The truck has the Novak EVX in it. Would the spool work good in this truck? I'm trying to piece it back together on the cheap and I have the gearbox with the spool in it.

So what happened with this project? Did you get it back together for him, or is it still sitting around collecting dust? Sorry I just saw the thread.
