I have a revo 3.3 and was wondering what I can do so that it is more like my truggy and buggies one speed tranny. I have tried adjusting the trans so it does not shift into second so soon but first gear winds out way too high on some tracks and then when it shifts to second it sometimes stay their too long in turns and slows me down. I want it like a one speed tranny and not have to worry about second. I HATE second. I think I can change the gearing but need some suggestion of gear sizes that I can use because I have no idea.

Traxxas offers a center differential for the revo. It should serve your needs well.

The Revo needs the two speed, and unless you plan on stuffing in a high-end big-block .21 engine or massive .28, you will need the two-speed. I have run my Revo with the stock engine, an RB .23, and now an O.S. 18, and all three mills have needed that low first gear. As I mentioned, you can install a crazy big-block, but I would also suggest that you upgrade the drivetrain to cope over the long haul (this entails such things as RRP's steel internal gears). The Revo was designed for a small block engine, and in my experience is lasts a lot longer when you use a small block. It can handle a bigger engine, but you will see drivetrain failure sooner if you choose this route. In addition, a big-block tends to muck up the truck's excellent mojo of balance and handling. I would seriously look into the O.S. engine if you wish to replace the stock 3.3. I have mine set so the shift occurs in about ten feet, and I never notice its occurance (I also use the close-ratio gearset). I set it so that the truck hits second immediately out of the turns, which enables the truck to clear jumps much better without much run-up.
So there.

I would visit the Traxxas website and check out some of Steve Slayden's suggestions.
The Revo has more adjustments on it than a Ham radio. The slightest change in the course of the track and you will need to adjust the tranny for its best shift points versus the powerband of the engine.
You need to parctice and adjust till you find what you and the Revo likes best.
I once raced the Revo but traded in favor of a big block engine in a LST. This allowed me to use a single speed setup and it works great.
