Hi, Dan from Central IL - Decatur, IL.
I have been in RC a couple of different times. First it was a Tamiya electric buggy back in the really early days. Back then brushless meant you spray painted your car!! :)
Then a few years back I bought an old RC10GT and made a FT model out of it. Never did quite get the hang of the OS engine, though and gave it up. Plus, it really wasn't made to run around the yard.
This time I went for an Associated MGT but I don't like buying them all put together so I hunted for all the parts and pieces (I wanted) and put one together.
Usually the most fun part for me is putting it together and then I quickly run out of interest. But this time it has been a blast running it. And it IS made for running in the yard.
I loved building it and I love running it.
Check out my website (http://on30ng.googlepages.com/associatedmgtbuildup)for my build up. I will continue to bling out my truck but I'm now wondering what the next project will be!

Heck Yea. Northern Indiana here. Welcome to the insanity Dan. Once you've been bitten hard by the R/C bug, you caught whatever it is we all have. There are so many things to build now, it's so hard to decide whats next. I'm currently palying with drift cars & I have to say on our carpet track they are so much fun !! Mine is an old TC3 & it is fun with 3 of us out there. This will be an interesting winter. I usually build at least one cool new vehicle every winter. Last year was a brushless 18t on a DiggityDesigns chassis. All built from pieces as you said yours was made too. I'm with you on the building thing. I enjoy creating something from a bunch of pieces. Being able to drive the thing like a mad man when done is a definite plus !!

Tell me more about your 18t...
I've been interested in them and maybe I should start collecting parts...

It is a custom built from parts thing by me. I started with a diggtydesigns chassis. It is all carbon fiber upper & lower. Then I added GPM alloy steering knuckles & 'C" hubs front and rear, diff.cases, titanium center shaft, alloy front and rear pin blocks, & motor mount. Used stock diff gears with MIP diffs & CVD's. Stock arms, Shocks, & Shock towers. Lunsford turnbuckles & titanium hinge pins. Then put in a JWerks 6600 brushless motor & speed control. It's a crazy fun thing & I have beat the heck out of it !! It was not cheap to build completely, but it's been a tank durability wise. In this picture & had some 3racing tires & wheels for a Kyosho half8. I've made it crazy fast & geared it for some real fun jumping over 10 ft in the air. Finally breaking the wing off the back & the Front BRP bumper. If you decide to, you would definitely enjoy an 1/18 th scale. A smaller vehicle means you can have lots of fun in smaller places !!
