...and you guys get to suffer through three videos. :p

After about an hour on the rocks on her first day she created a nasty grinding sound in the drivetrain. Seems someone (me) forgot to put threadlock on the grub screw for the pinion. :o

The 2nd day I took the video camera along and shot an hour of video. :D

Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C_vjQs9nL8)

Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6PF_KrA7hQ)

Today we went out and I set up some gates and made her drive through some tough off-camber and extreme sidehill situations...spots where you're literally driving on the sidewalls. :D She did well!

First driver is a buddy of mine, Roy, driving his Bronco. It has a Blazing Blazer chassis, Wheely King tranny, and TLT axles.

I'm the 2nd driver. I'm driving the XJ Cherokee from scaleoffroad.com.

3rd is my wife driving the FJ Cruiser. Chassis is from the Tamiya CC-01 Touareg. Body is from a cheap eBay RC.

I'm sure we'll hit the rocks a few more times before she goes to Afghanistan.

Be sure to give her our best before she leaves....

The couple that crawl together stay together? That's good stuff Jason. I was only able to watch one video. Youtube and Myspace really eats up our bandwidth here. Here shortly it's going to be the rainy season here in Iraq. Not sure about Afghanistan. I'm sure it'll be cold and rainy. But last I checked, Afghanistan has ROCKS! You going to let her take a crawler? :)
I think you told me her unit before but forgot. So tell her to stay safe.

By the look of the videos she crawls as well as the other two trucks, I think you guys better look out.:D

She competed this past weekend, was clean on the first course until she got high-centered...then I started trying to coach her...didn't work.

The guys said she was doing well until I tried to help. :p

She did well on the 2nd course as well. Not sure where she placed overall, but it wasn't last. :D

Not too shabby.

Johnboy, I picked up a 2.2 tuber for her this past weekend as well.

So now she has a 1.9 scaler and a 2.2 comp rig.

She made the best comment this weekend...one that made my case for being late getting home from the track, the lake, or the airfield...whichever the case may be.

"Time goes by so fast when you're out here driving. I can't believe how fast the day has gone by!"

Keep in mind we've been married for 11 years and I've been into RC the entire time I've known her.

After 11 years of marriage she finally understands how "I'll be home in about an hour" means "I'll be home in three hours"

We ended up camping at the comp site last night, slept on the futon in the pit trailer, got up and had more fun today.

Amen to that. My wife and I just celebrated our second anniversary. (Missed both of them due to field problems and now being in Iraq). But your last post reminded me of something my wife did. I used to have a custom little minitruck, was the MO chapter president of Outkast Kustoms car club, and having a ball working hard on trying to have fun....My wife made a post on our club's forums and I shared it on this site. Now it might be based on minitruckin' but it relates to R/C as well. She's just been that supportive. I got a kick out of reliving this forgotten post...thanks for reminding me that my wife is the .....(lets just say poop so I don't get in trouble!)

Good stuff!

Here's the tuber we picked up for her this weekend. It needs a rebuild but no big deal.

How bout a suprise scaler for her JIA.

JasonC
10-06-2008, 12:44 PM
:D

I doubt she wants a MRAP for a scaler.

When she gets back to the states she'll probaby not want to see military vehicles when she's trying to relax.
