Traxxas V Twin E-MAXX Due out in December
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While at the I-Hobby Expo this past weekend Traxxas had this little terror at the show.........well after two days of nothing but "make it I'll buy it!" comments they came down to our booth and annouced that they will be out in December of this year. Yes a Twin VXL powered E-MAXX. You can see all of the picture here....... http://www.maxamps.com/alley/thumbnails.php?album=36 2 pages of the beast that was reported to have destroyed the tires after about 6 runs with a pair of our MaxAmps.com 3S 5000's in it. Check it gang it is sharp!
thanks Team Traxxas

i thought the vxl e-maxx was just a concept truck and the truck thats comeing out just has 2 titan engines in it

Correct.
The new E-Maxx is a dual brushed unit, they will have a motor plate/cover available for a single brushless conversion, but the twin VXL truck was a concept...that didn't work. (not sure why...I've ran several dual BL systems before)
I didn't quite understand the idea of bringing the twin VXL to the show (especially after hyping the release of a new vehicle online) as a concept when the folks I spoke with at Traxxas said that two of their VXL systems could not work together on the truck.
Traxxas said that even if they could get it to work, the price point would be so high that folks wouldn't buy it.
I had several people ask me if I saw the new brushless E-Maxx...I had to explain that to them what Traxxas explained to me.
Concepts are great in the automotive world, but showing a "concept" vehicle the same weekend as (and right next to) a new vehicle release confused many consumers at the show.

Status: online Ok guys, here is the official Traxxas word on the subject.
First and foremost, if you had a new 3905 E-Maxx on order for Christmas, I would not recommend cancelling that order in hopes of picking up a V-Twin, as you will not see a V-Twin E-Maxx in stores in December. The good news here is that even if you were holding out for the possible concept V-Twin, the 3905 truck is 100% compatible with dual VXL systems- there are no differences in the drivetrain between the two trucks. It's an easy bolt in should you want to upgrade later.
At the show, spirits were high, the atmosphere nearing frantic levels; Wires were easily crossed- and rumors began. As of this morning, the V-Twin concept simply sits as a hopeful probably. There are NO production dates, NO estimated retail prices, NO final production prototypes. It is indeed still a concept vehicle.
What we are saying however, is that the new E-Maxx 3905 will be the new Traxxas truck in stores in December. Between hearing V-Twin with "probable" and December in 3905 context, it is easy to see where things went awry.
We apologize for any miscommunication on our part, to Jason at Maxamps for the confusion, and we certainly appreciate everyone's enthusiasm on the subject! Stay tuned to www.traxxas.com for new product updates!

Now see, that's odd...I was told by the Traxxas rep that the dual VXL system wouldn't work on the E-Maxx. It was just a concept. It didn't work and, if it did, the price would be so high that consumers likely wouldn't buy it.
I kept thinking in my head that they should, just a matter of a couple of Y-harnesses (one for power to controllers and one for servo leads on throttle channel) and programming each system individually.
Good to know that two VXL systems will work together as they should.

Some random thoughts...
well, he's certainly right about the price part. I assume that would roll in at at least $550-600 or higher - that would be way too high for me.
BUT
If i were to buy a standard E-maxx and hop it up with an HV maxx system, i'd be in that ballpark anyway. And there are plenty of brushless maxx's running around. (And revo's for that matter, which is a more expensive conversion.) Something for Traxxas to consider.
Another thing for traxxes to consider: Dropping that twin titan tranny into a Revo chassis.....now we're talkin!

That's what I was expecting...an electric version of Revo.

Traxxas should and hopefully will make a E-Revo, the demand is definetly there. Anyway just curious what size bodies will fit? Seems like Revo 3.3 to me.

After all the upgrades I have done to my original E it's not far off. Extended chasis , check. Beefed up suspension and bulkheads, check. But wait, a single speed tranny (unless you buy a conversion)? How could it possibly be faster than a two speed with the same batteries? But in the end at least the E-Maxx will not fade into the distance as the Electric Monster that a company gave up on due to Nitro being the bigger seller or whatever excuse a company would give. I praise traxxas for keeping the hope alive for all those electric fans that want to see a brushless E-Maxx waste it's Nitro brother in a race.
