Hi all. As you can see, i need some help with upgrading my pede. I'm not sure but i think that someone told me to get all rear wheels if buying HPI, but im not sure what kinds of offsets and what-not to go with.....also, i'm looking for cheap (but quality) li-po packs. Do you guys trust the the new truerc.com li-pos???? if not, where can find cheap (but quality) li-pos? (over 3800mAh pls!) thanks a bunch.

I can't help with the lipos, I don't even have a charger capable of lipos yet, but I can help with the wheels. the Pede has offset wheels in the front, and no offset in the rear. this makes it a little difficult to buy wheels for. Also the front wheels have a live axle unlike most 2 wheel drive trucks which have a solid axle and bearings on the wheel. So because of that you need a hex drive on the front wheel as well as the back wheel. RPM makes good wheels for the pede and rustler, HPI rears will work in the rear and the front, but they wont have the correct offset for the front wheels. if you would like to be able to use rear wheels all around there are mods you can do to the front arms that will increase their length and allow the use of the same offset wheels in the front and the rear. also FLM has the arms available already extended. hope this helps

thanks, that did help, although i do know a bit about the pede (seeing that i've owned one for about a year) but i remember a guy telling me that i could get 4 rears or 4 fronts and then switch up the hexes somehow....thanks tho....

Cheap & lipo do not fit in the same sentence. There are many companys making lipo batteries now. I would say getting one with that high of a rating will cost you,no matter who you buy it from. I have no idea of your experience with them. These can be dangerous to charge & take care of. You must use approved charger & I would definitely recommend a lipo safe to charge & store them in as well. You can easily burn down your house with one, so being extremely careful is a must. MaxAmps, Flightpower, Kokam, thunder power, & common sense rc - all sell good quality lipos for R/C vehicles. I'm sure there are tons more manufacturers. Look around and see what all you can find. From what lipos I've used, they are extremely cool, & will make your vehicle fly compared to a stick pack of any kind.

haha, yes, i realize the danger, and also the fact that i run out in my hood sometimes to see how many onlookers i can get, so i'll just throw my pack on the charger and put my other back in the truck and go right back out.....however, i am planning on getting a tekin rage 8.1kv motor for an RC18t and was wondering what charger i cuold get that will charger those kinds of batteries, as well as a pair of 7-cell 4000mAh batts. im getting for the pede....thnx

I use an MRC SuperBrain977. With a good 10 amp power supply you can hit both 4000's at one time. It can also charge lipos. This model also discharges on one side & charges on the other. Many good chargers available, depends on what features & how much your looking to spend. This MRC will run around 110$ . The dual feature sells it to me, with multiple batteries & racing an 18t & Slider all winter !

thanks, and that sounds cool, but all i need is a charger that can do my RC18t's 7-cell (do they fit in there?) and pede's 7-cell batts.

One of these will do that good. Yes some 7 cell packs do fit. An 18t with a 7 cell is almost un-drivable though. Fun for play, though ....

hhhmmmmmm, well, i have a medium track in my backyard (used for a pede until he got BL...) but then why do i see people driving their rc18t's down the street on bl with li-pos? guess it's only controlable with hard tires going striaght...lol, the guy at my hobby shop put a tekin 8.1kv rage in with only a 2s 11.1v batt. and blew the tires off in the 1st hundred feet he drove, and he hasn't put it back in scince, which is a surprise seeing that the shop is right on the side of a highway ;)....anyways, i guess i'll ask him what he runs now as a batt. cuz he still has the tekin system in it....but also, i was wondering if i could just use the dynamite visioin peak 2 i've used for my pede scince i got into the hobby....

Only for lipos if it supports them. I don't know about that one ? A Brushless lipo RC18t is fun. I have had one for a couple years. It's a blast even on a 6 cell !! :D

hhhmmm, thanks, and i guess this is problem solved, but seeing that you had an rc18t, i was wondering if you could suggest a battery for me?

I run std 6 cell Venom packs right now 1300's. If I were using the lipos now, I would look at any good 2 cell. Some of the new I believe lithiumManganese ?{Spelling} are even more safe from what I hear. I have a few lipos & will be getting some more. I just say take the time to store & charge them safely & all will be cool. I have a JWerks 6600 brushless system in mine. It's crazy on a lipo, 6 cell is plenty good though as well. I've changed from carpet to off-road dirt with it. Now I'm headed back to carpet.

No problem. Sounds like a very fun combo. We had guys run 8000 mamba kits at our track. They are crazy fast. With the combo your talking about, you've really pushed the RPM range that's Safe. At 67,200rpm everything must stay very balanced. They can be pushed but require some mods to handle all of it. Sometimes still break !! :D Enjoy it, It will be a blast for sure ;)

well, thanks for all your help. Keep in mind that the tekin is an 8100kv system so it should be even faster. Now the only thing i still need to remedy is the offsets on my pede.....:(

The off-set thing is no big deal. The hexes on the front I believe are longer. Just get you another set of front & rear hexes & the wheels & tires of your choice. Then mount them up. The new 30 series prolines are are nice too.
