Here is a Tamiya Monster Beetle body I am restoring for a buddy of mine. It is coming along quite nicely, and I will start picking out all the little details this afternoon.
This is how day one started.

After many hours of sanding, it was ready for primer, but I still had to repair the front body mount hole, and fill the original antenna hole.

Once the holes were repaired and sanded I shot it with another quick coat of primer and sanded the entire body smooth one more time. It was finally time to lay some paint.

Here's a couple shots of how it looks as of right now. I figured my Frog chassis was the perfect candidate to model the body since I don't own a Monster Beetle. These pics show the custom lexan sunroof that I hand made so that the body would have tinted glass in the roof rather than the solid plastic original piece. I'll post a couple more shots when the deatils are finished and the clearcoat has been applied.

Should be noted I am the "buddy" who he thought could take for a nice ride and keep this for himself, some 3 years later I never got it back and refuses to return it and many other things like a mini airplane(no it isnt stolen Max we know who steals here). Sad to know a guy or think you know a guy 6 some years only to have them shove a knife in your back. Sadly tho this hobby is full of em, lesson to all dont think you really "know" someone regardless of time.

Ouch. I used to own a monster beetle. My first. RC to be exact. Had the body for years and was about to toss it, but gave it new life on a cliff climber. Of coarse a few mods had to be made, like cutting off all the busted fenders and such. It looked cool when done tho.

Yea ouch is right, reality is I should have seen it long ago cause he has done this to others a few times, he needs 20 buks and thinks its ok to take it from someone instead of being a man and getting legit...this is almost 40 year old man btw.
Came across this thread by accident really, I had deleted any of these pics long ago just irked me more to see em!
Ouch to cutting a old body! lol
