What kind of chassis do you drift? I have a Tamiya TA03F and a TT-01. Both are still works in progress. Hopefully they'll both be running by summer.

ABS on both, perfect with the stock motors, I tried PVC, not enough grip, though stock tamiya rubber worked well with a comp 27t motor for a while.
It depends on the surface you run on, really.

I have a Tamiya TL-01 on the shelf in my office complete and all there. It has a Novak Super Rooster ESC ,Trinity Monster Of Touring motor, can I drift with this car if I order some drift tires?? Do I need anything else to drift it? Drop me a line.I have a NIB Skyline body under my work bench for it also.later WrenchHead.

No reason why it wouldn't drift! Bearings would help I suppose.
While you're waiting for the tyre to arrive, you might try taping up your rubber tyres and see how you do with that!

I have all the hop-up under the sun for that car.It was my first car when Igot back into the hobby in the late ninties.Boght used from a friend who was stepping up to a TC3 and sold it to me for $30.I had an RC10 back in the day but sold it off.So I was building 1;12 scale Tamiya static motorcycle models.I built all the GP and road bikes I liked. So I hade nothing to build so I bought the TL-01 as a basher for the local tennis courts where my friend would drive his R/C's.Nice place to run no cars to Squish your car, clean level courts to play on.The light would stay on till 10pm M-F and 12am Sat.Was alot of fun till we moved.Back to the car,it has full bearings,Alloy and Carbon all over it.Went to start racing and realized it was no race car.Track owner told to take my Radio Shack toy home and come back when I got a real car.So I save up and bought a TB-EVOIII.So I painted up a shelf Queen body and stuck it in my Office. There she still sits waiting to be rebourne as a drifter.I am so Syched to drift it.My LHS has some HPI drift tires and rims on the shelf. There Mine today if I can get off early.Later,WrenchHead.:)

Well all I got my drift wheels and tires on Friday and spent the weekend drifting and breaking stuff. I now have torn out all 4 alluminum CVD shafts I had in the car.I put the stock dog bones back in. I got a new motor from a oval racer at the LHS on Sat. when I was in there helping out.Way faster than the motor I had in the car. I also dropped 2 teeth and the motor gear.It was a 23T now it is a 21T.And I also bought a new 4200 MiAh Batt. at the LHS on Sat. Now the car ripped the alloy shafts out,1st the rears went, then after fixing them the fronts were next. Now I am looking for some in steel or titanium if there availible.Way to much fun though.I went to my local park and drifted all Sat. morning on the tennis courts and the in the bowl at the skate/bmx park right next to the courts. Thanks for the help,Later.Wrench:)

WOW. I use a tc3 for drifting as well & ran for several weeks before breaking anything at all. Finally one of the front stock carbon shafts give up. I wonder what is the problem with yours ? I put the blue aluminums in the front & have had no problems at all. I just got me a new car to do some with it's an Xray T1 fk04. I hope to have it going here very soon. I gotta say, I didn't think I would like it near as much as I do. After the guys around here seen it in action. Now there are 5 of us with drifters. We have a blast with them. :D

For a small budget, you can go with Tamiya TT-01, TL-01. HPI got the e-10 and Associated, you got the TC3 and TC4. Losi, you have the XXX-drift.

I started with the TT-01. Plenty of replacement parts, cheap, and easy to get one under 100$ on E-bay or other site.

I don't know much about the other brand. I know that TC3 or TC4 are very easy to tune.

Like you, I wasn't sure and I decided to go with tamiya cause it was cheap. Some will say that TT-01 are not very good, that they are too basic, that you should spend yor money on something more adjustable but I'm pretty happy with the result. I even got a mamba max 7700 to replace the motor. A bit too much but I know that I have enough torque for drifting.

You have to think that you have to get batteries, chager, transmitter. So, in the end ,if you start with somethig expensive, you gonna end up with spending around 500$ or 600$ for your car. I was able to get mine under 350$ (car, transmitter, 4 battery pack and charger).
