I'm looking at starting a winter project of building a Traxxas jato from the ground up with the extended chssis plate and longer A-arms. I'm fearing that by doing so, I'm going to have a lot more car to have to power and am looking for suggestions on a good .21 size motor that has a lot of power and reliability. I want it to look good, but I'm a practicle person and if I got it, I got to run it. If anyone has any good suggestions, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

I'm assuming that you already have the big block conversion kit for the Jato? If so, how much are you looking to spend on a .21?

I'd be willing to pay upwards of a couple hundred bucks. preferably in the 200-300 dollar range but would be willing to go higher if I would get a much better product.

A Dynamite .28 platinum is a very good & strong engine. There are many models that would work fine. Dynamite seems to be good for the money. Look around & find a good deal on one. Big Block power is very cool !

Are you specifically looking for a .21 displacement engine or a .21 'big' block size (which goes all of the way up to .32)?

My first recommendation would be a Mach 427 (.28). Those are nice cheap engines and can be had for cheap online. Way too much power for a Jato, but then any .21 is going to be too much power.

A decent .15 makes more then enough power for the Jato. Any reason for big block other then the cool factor?

I agree with that ! The jato would be a land rocket with an OS 18 tz. This would also be much easier to install. Along with less $$$ Gotta like that. O.S. engines are very good quality as well. Good luck on your choice !

The engine would definitely, in part, be for looks. But I also want to be able to run it and enjoy the car. I appreciate all of your guys' feedback. I'm by far not familiar with all the different nitro engines out there. Thanks for the help everyone!
