Hi all,

Here is my next project. I bought this shell during last summer and I was wondering what color I should use.

Anyway, I used tamiya copper and Faskolor, 40054 - Pearl Charcoal. I used also 40050 - Pearl Silver to back up the paint. I also did some change on the shell. I wanted to have mesh in front and on the side. I still need to fix the mesh inside. For now, I used masking tape but I would prefer something stronger but I'm not sure. I tought about bathroom transparent caulking.

Anyway, next step will be light bucket and wheels. I need a big offset cause this shell is 200mm and my chassis is tamiya TT-01.

I'm still not sure if I want to used smoke or translucid orange in the windows.

Nice looking grill work.

To better glue the grills in you can use shoo goo. But don't buy it at the hobby shop, get it at wal-mart in the shoe dept. You can get a huge tube of it for far less than the tiny tube of the same exact repackaged stuff at the lhs. It works great for gluing anything to the inside of a painted lexan body. I also use shoe goo and lexan scraps to do repairs to cracked lids.

No problem. I know it works well for grills, I did a grill set for a Nascar Ford Taurus body I had at one time, the body is long gone now though. After seeing your thread I may just have to do another one with grills, I still have a few small pieces of 440 stailess mesh laying in the fab box.

Looks like an awesome job going on there. Can you say Drifter ? That body should turn some heads. I like the reality look with the grill & vents. Nice job !

Hey thanks for the comments!!!

Yeah, it is a drifter. My chassis is only a basic Tamiya TT-01 but I don't want to change it. I like the TT-01. Some will say that this is not a good chassis but for me, it is simple and it will do the job.

I also like going on sunday morning (when we dont' have snow !?#!&#% ) in a parking lot near my house. I usually grab a large coffe at Tim Horton and then, I go drift my car for an hour. It makes me calm down from all the stress at work.

Plus, I like what you can do with the shell. Trying to get as real as possible is for me a big challenge.

Maybe one day, I will buy a Skyline and drift for real (when I will have time to do it!!) I know a place in Montreal where they sell used Skyline and Sylvia coming from Japan. They are in good shape and range from 7k to 25K. So, you can buy a decent car and go drift in closed circuit. Yeah, one day...
