My son and I want to get a T-Maxx. This is our first nitro truck. I have a electric that is still running twenty years later but really would like some help on getting a nitro. Is the T-Maxx the way to go?

Ther will be many saying yes but I think something else to start out with. If you want a monster truck there are so many to chose from. I myself and a lot of others don't like the Traxxas products. If I were to buy any it would be the Revo. I have my own reasons one of them being that it's hard to keep a tune for the T-maxx. I have 5 rigs all different walks of life. I love my Savage x 4.6. It's a MT and is very solid out of the box. You'll have to look around on forums to see what others have to say. Good luck in a very fun and addicting hobby. PS, it's great for Father and Son as I have a son that is now 13 wanting to race LOL. ENJOY:)

I don't personally have a T-MAXX, but I do have a REVO and love it. I think that a T-MAXX would definately be the way to go. Like JGTruggy said, you will find people who don't like Traxxas products. I am not one of those people. Traxxas is known for having great customer service. There are many aftermarket support products for the T-MAXX so that you can upgrade when you feel comfortable.
My REVO has been very dependable for almost three years. I hope that this helps and I would definately encourage you to go with Traxxas.:)

If you are not heart set on Traxxas and plan on bashing, I say go with a Savage X from HPI.

I would definately get a T-MAXX as a first nitro. If something goes wrong, just call up traxxas and they will usually know the exact cause. My REVO was my first Nitro, and it has been a blast. The Traxxas motors have plenty of power and speed.
Hope this helps.:)
i have a t-maxx. it has been very good to me for 2 yrs now replced motor at about 9 gal. my lhs has a wide veriety of parts and hop ups and that is nice. no matter what you go with it will sooner or later break. the after market for t-maxx is awsome.

I have all different products including traxxas. The benefit to starting with with traxxas is their dealer network, parts availability, customer service and their quality instructions complete with how-to DVD. The only downfall I feel to starting with a T-maxx is it will probably a 3.3 if you buy it in a store, the 3.3 is a little tricky to keep a tune in. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy something in a kit form. This way you learn how the vehicle is put together which makes it much easier to work on, and I would get an O.S. engine which is much easier to tune. However, you will pay more money to get started.
