the traxxas stampede is absolutely the BEST 2wd truck (monster truck) that you will ever drive, nirtro or electric. It can be made 4wd, but it can't be made nitro, but with today's brushless tech, i dont see why you would want it. I say go for it, it is a rediculusly tuff truck and there are a fine amount of hop-ups for it.

The Stampede is sold in a Nitro & Electric form. I would just get the one you want. They are great trucks. As for the 4 wheel drive, I've never seen one converted. Don't even know how it could be done without major mods. ...

Hey looker I dont know if you have seen this before but there has been a 4wd rusty so i would think that with some serious modding you could make a 4wd pede. Swami at www,swami-rc.com made the rusty

Just my 2 cents

The new E-Maxx is 4WD. love my stampede. I made it more torque and faster by soldering the motor directly to the ESC and added Dean connectors. It makes a big differance

pedes rock! there are a bunch of people whove done 4wd convertions to them im not sure where to loook but you see them every so ofter, the pede is a great truck, very durable, and there are a number of companys that seell aftermarket parts for them. there also great if you tend to get carried away with your dremal (like me) theres a lot of 1 off mods out there that people do to their pedes. definantly my favorite rc ever, but remember NO car is bullet proof but the pede is dam near close

i know i already preached pede but i wanted you to know, there are competitors, the pedes the best but its not the only.

losi sells a pede look-a-like and the hpi wheely king is a somewhat valid competitor. the only issues i see with the losi is the lack of spare parts in most shops and its eerily similar setup to the pede. the issues with the wheely kink are pretty obvious, for one its also very hard to find parts for and its probly much harder to run on a track, you dcide what ya want but as always do as much research as possible before you buy.

The pede beats em both, but two things. The WK is 1/12 scale so not exacly the same class. Also you can put lots of money into WK's. Most parts go into crawler parts tho.

On the Traxxas Stampede. The XL-5 does not have the all steel tranny. You would want to do that before any brush less goes in.or Go for the VXL right from the start.Has all of what you need in rtr package. :D But yes it's a very tough truck.I regret giving mine away. But I passed it down to my nephews. And they get my back issues of RCD too.Off topic a bit sorry.
