Ok, so it's getting about that time to start packing up and getting ready to come home to the states. We should be returning in the "springtime"... We are stationed out of Fort Stewart, GA.
Last spring, I started emailing the MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) about getting some property on post dedicated for RC racing. It seemed hit or miss so I left it alone. Now we've seen some great interest in the RC hobby. I've promoted the heck out of it with the help of RC Driver and their free subscriptions! Many new people have purchased vehicles and most I think are hooked! Some high ranking seniors have noticed as well. It's not hard to notice the six or more RC tracks on this FOB!
So I have emailed back my MWR point of contact. She has stated that the "quest is still on the planning table, keep providing information!" Well if it's information she wants, it's information she'll get! What I need from you is your comments, suggestions, information, etc! I'm hoping to prove that providing an area for this hobby is beneficial to ALL AGES!
I plan on contacting companies, tracks, and race promoters as well. I would like to get their comments on the impact a track has on a local community. I would also like to personnally throw down the RC Driver issue with the article on building a local track! Please feel free to post up anything...I don't care if it's just your two cents.
When you think about it, a military installation could use RC! You have a large number of folks that need a healthy hobby. Can help kids that have deployed parents. Military installation has everything pretty much on post to successfully build a track and/or host a large event without too much outside help! Plus the local surrounding community members can access it too! So help me out if you can cause I plan on talking to them till I'm blue in the face!
