I am new to nitro trucks and just got Savage X. I am having problems breaking engine in. I can not get temp past 150-160. this is my third tank of fuel. Outside temp is about 40. I have both needles very very lean. I do not know if I am hurting engine running so lean. I am running lean to get temp up. When I wrap head and the temp goes up do I start to make it more rich? Thanks for help

Set the needles back to factory specs and wrap the head. once it's running, watch the temps but listen to the engine. Don't try to tune for power just get it running without spitting a lot of fuel out the pipe. Blip the throttle and once the temps get 200 or better for a minute then stop the engine and put the piston ad bottom of the stroke and let it cool all the way. Doo this 5 or 6 times and then you should be good to start tuning for power. It will probably take near a gallon before the engine wakes up and starts to really make power.

What Do You Recommend Wrapping Head. Also How Do You Stop It From Spitting Out Fuel Of Pipe.

Aluminum foil works and setting the needles back to factory settings should help with the fuel out the pipe. A few drops spitting out isn't too bad, it just means the engine is too rich. As long as there is smoke and maybe a few drops you should be good to go. There's supposed to be a good guide in the faq, or google ron paris tuning guide and it should help out.

Breaking in at 40 is harder than at 70, so as a noob, you are making it harder on yourself. But I understand the anticipation. I too use aluminum foil, but I take a paper towel and wrap it around the aluminum foil. Helps insulate more to keep more heat in. Don't get too caught up in engine temps. You can ruin an engine that way. Always make sure you have some blue smoke coming out while on throttle. Hopefully being at 40 you didn't cut a hole in your body. The hole is meant to keep temp down, so not cutting it creates the adverse effect. Let us know how you make out.
